Brand name alternatives?

What products are you willing to sub in store brands or no name alternatives instead of buying brand names? For food it's usually frozen veggies, hot chocolate, chips and snacks for my household. For medicine I usually stick with the brand name products. What about you? Do you think there is a difference?

Some Times

I'm actually quite happy to buy whatever is cheapest, if I think the quality is there. I do tend to buy name brands for snacks, such as chips or pop. Which in reality is probably just advertising doing it's job, but some I think are actually better.

Medicine is actually one of the things I'm happy to buy store brand, especially if it is at least 1/2 price. The most important thing to do with that is compare labels, check if they are the same or very closely the same. Also asking a pharmacist is usually quite helpful. As an example, if you buy the largest bottle of Advil it can cost upwards of $20 but if you buy store brand it will likely be around $8-10, and will do the same thing. On the other hand I once asked a pharmacist the difference between a label and store cold medicine and was advised to go with the label as it had the ingredient I needed.

Brand names

Toilet paper is one thing I don't sub. There are some pretty cheap ones out there. The food items are usually ok except ketchup I don't. Snacks lots are good in no name.

I don't think there is. I think brand names bring up their prices due to the name. No name products are just as good in my opinion

Often Just as Good

I find there are some store brands of various snacks like chips (e.g. Sensations Cracked Pepper and Lime chips) that I like better than 'brand' names!

Certain things like mayonaise or ketchup, I will never sub for no name because the flavors are not the same

Certain things

I always buy mayo and ketchup brand name as well. Generally store brand medicine. I find Presidents Choice and No Name are usually pretty decent brands and priced very well.
