Frightening phone call

Hi everyone, I guess I just need to vent. A while ago a man called my cell phone and started cursing and calling me foul names, claiming I hit his car today and left a note with this number on it. I tried telling him that I've not been anywhere today and where was this suppose to have happened? He wouldn't answer and kept up with the vile names and demanded my insurance name and number, that I was fixing his fender and tail light!! I asked his name and the number on the note and where this supposedly took place. He refused and name calling began again. It listed his number on my cell as restricted, so I couldn't call the Police and have them trace it. He called back and told me to give him the info that he wasn't going away and that I will pay! I tried telling him I haven't been anywhere today and where was this at? That set him off more and his final words to me was, I will find where you are and you will pay! That totally freaks me out and scares me at the same time. I don't know what to do about this whacko!!   Ginger

That's just crazy! Could be a scam to get private info from you or just a sicko. You can always file a police report and they can trace the phone call. Be safe!

Ginger if I was in your position I would call the police. It looks like someone gave him you number either be accident or they wanted too. I'm sure when the police see your car they will believe you were not involved. Maybe the police will go see him or call him and you will be cleared.

Thanks so much Chrissyann for your feedback. It was so scary to hear someone I don't know using that kind of language at me. It just got my nerves on edge.

Some people these days... It really sounds like a scam like the ladies have said. There was another similar post about some random caller trying to intimidate an elderly lady to pay a certain amount of money. They're probably trying to get you all riled up and scared so that you cave into their tactics. Let the police handle this. You never know, others may have already had similar phone calls and also filed a report about it.

Hang in there!

Sorry to hear that this happened to you.

For your own peace of mind I hope that you contacted the authorities to
report this incident. This man sounds
like he might have been high on drugs or dealing with a personal issue
unrelated to you but nonetheless he was quite unstable. You seem like a strong person that won’t let
him invade your space. I trust that the
police will resolve this issue for you and that this man doesn’t repeat this
out of control verbal attack on a weaker person who will be scarred for
life. No one has the right to say such
things especially when you are innocent.

For someone to lash out like that he must have some serious personal
issues but that is not your problem to deal with. He’s a hothead and it’s a good thing that you
are calm and level-headed or this situation could have escalated even
further. If this wasn’t a crank call or
scam and this person was in a serious emotional crisis it’s lucky for him that
he reached you and not another person with an equally short fuse.

The authorities will deal with this problem and I also truly believe
that karma has her own swift way of dealing with these situations.

Don’t let this incident instill fear in you but at the same time keep
your eyes and ears open just to be on the safe side because you can never
understand how an emotionally unstable mind works and reacts.

Hang it there!

Thank you so much OceanSunrise for that great comment and nice words!! I did call the Police after the 2nd call and all they told me was that if I didn't have a number from where he was calling from, they really couldn't do anything. The number he called from said restricted. I asked the Police what do I do if he calls a 3rd time, and he said to try and get his name and his location! I'm thinking to myself-why should I be doing that? Isn't that what their job is? They were useless in helping me and even told me there wasn't a reason to file a report since I didn't know his name, location and since he hasn't physically harmed me!! I truly appreciate all your kind words and support. I truly appreciate it-Ginger.

Thanks of the update!

How frustrating that the police can’t help. With the advanced technology we have you’d
think that something could be done.
Their inability to go the extra mile makes you wonder if a person needs
to be physically hurt before they can do anything. Must be frustrating on their end too since
they have no way to reach this person. I
think that the cell phone provider should be able to trace a call when a
situation like this presents itself; privacy is our right but when someone
abuses the rights of another they should have to answer for it.

I hope that you spend a calm evening with your hubby and push this
unpleasantness from your mind. You have your loving family and friends to
support you and your ChickAdvisor family who are always ready to offer good
advice. It’s a comforting feeling to
know that someone can take the time in their busy day to listen and try to see
the light at the end of the tunnel.

Spring is almost here and there is much to celebrate! I’m certain that you have a lovely garden
that will be blooming soon. I know I’m
looking forward to smelling the potent damask scent of my roses.

As you know all too well when you surround yourself with positive
people the world is a better place.
