Very embarrassing story but I'm sharing so others can learn from my idiocy.
I have an RBC Shoppers Optimum account including a separate Visa / Debit card. (As a side note, this collaboration ends in August...Boooooooo) :( I use this card to make online purchases so I get the points. For those of you who know me, you know I love my SDM Optimum points and my great SDM sales!
A little bit of background info, feel free to skip this part: Anyway, I have gained weight from medications and it's really tough for me to lose weight. Because I have several bowel diseases, I am very limited in the food that I can eat. Most things make me sick. To get my nutrients I drink meal replacement shakes and barely eat real food so it's like my body is in starvation mode and hangs on to every single calorie I take in. Because of the extreme lethargy and fatigue I take caffeine supplements as well as vitamin therapy and Dex (amphetamines) to stay awake.
If you're still reading, thanks for staying with me.
Anyway, I saw this great "deal" in MANY places online for Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee supplements, which are supposed to help with weight loss. I know people who have tried them and it worked for some of them. I thought, what is the harm in trying to see if this can kickstart my metabolism? I decided to purchase a free trial with a 30 day money back guarantee. Just pay shipping and cancel at any time. Good deal, right? WRONG! SO WRONG!
Like many others, I purchased without reading the fine print. The fine print tells me that in 14 days I would be charged $97 US funds for each bottle unless I canceled prior to 14 days and I would be billed on the 15th day. And the exact same thing would happen in another two weeks. Then I would be sent another month's supply and billed $97 US funds per bottle until the end of time, or until I canceled.
I noticed the huge charges on Saturday. I went back to the website, which by this point no longer exists (surprise, surprise). Thankfully, I take screen shots of everything I purchase online. After some sleuthing I found the contact info for the company and directions on how to cancel. I immediately called my bank and canceled my card and ordered a new one. I submitted a dispute claim and I was nicely told this happens ALL THE TIME. I cannot tell you how incredibly stupid I feel. So flipping stupid!!!
Exceedingly long story short: I called the customer service # and emailed them trying to cancel. Customer Service "couldn't find" my account, even after giving them all my info including full name, address, credit card, phone #, reference #, etc etc etc. They "couldn't put me through to a supervisor without finding my account first". I was welcomed to call back in a few days to see if they could find my account then. So basically, they can find info to charge me (and not send more products btw) but they couldn't find my account to cancel. EVER. I recorded the convo on my phone. I was very insistent and the girl got so flustered she HUNG UP ON ME! I called back multiple times but was on hold for at least 20 mins each time then the call disconnected. I called my bank again and told them what happened and they advised me that they will go into the company's account and refund my money in 15 days if the company hasn't responded to my email by then. So far there's been no reply to my email from the bogus company.
Ps - I didn't even take the pills cause I was sick with the flu for two weeks. I'm not even going to bother trying them and I never should have ordered in the first place. I just want so badly to be skinnier and healthier again, I allowed them to prey on my weakness to be thin. I have been punished for being so shallow about my weight gain.
I hope this hasn't happened to any of you and please learn from my dumb@ss mistake and NEVER sign up for this. EVER.
Very dumb fat girl.

@fly_eyez - I'm glad you posted this. For you it helps other's not to get scammed and no you are not dumb. It happens to all of us. As I mentioned you could get fake and scammed with anything on the internet.
Just to give you an FYI on Garcinia Cambogia I have read that they are good for dieting. Which I have gained some weight from medications as well. It was also talked about on Dr. Oz. I researched and researched for the brand that the celebs and on Dr. OZ, it turns out you could buy them at Costco. That is the best one apparently. If you have any type of bowel movement problem, especially hard stools (TMI) it is not recommend. I tried for a week and I'm an every day goer, but couldn't go for the entire week. Then when I stopped I went regularly again. Then tried again couldn't go again. Did some researched and found out constipation is one of the side effects. My husband took it and nothing happened to him. He seems like he slim down (he's not fat by any means) but he said he didn't loose any weight but he does noticed his clothes fit better.
Then after taking the full bottle, he stopped because no difference. The weight was gained back. I think the best way to shed some weight is exercise. Try insanity. It works for a lot of people. Just thought I shared my story with you. :)

Thanks! And thanks for sharing your experience with this product. Because I have a bowel disease I will definitely steer clear of this product!

Merci de partager ton expérience. Je suis certaine que cela va aider beaucoup de personnes pour ce produit ou un autre. Désolée pour toi cependant. J'espère que tu iras mieux.

So sorry that happened to u. I have heard this before and like you were told, this happens all the time. I think that shoe commercial "fab shoes" or whatever does the same thing. It's such a scam cause let's face it we all don't read fine print.
Glad u caught it before things went nuts though.
Some companies should feel so ashamed

Thanks for the story and the heads up.
You are far from being dumb. I'll bet most of us on here have a story about how we were scammed. I have a Michael Kors story that left me $ 100 poorer but with some nice plastic flip flops with a knock off MK. Sigh....
I really hope that the powers that be start looking at these subscription scams. They are all very easy to sign up for, not so easy to cancel. I. Having an issue with Fabfitfun currently. Fortunately credit card companies are very good at helping out. I'm glad you'll be reimbursed.

I think we a just too trusting by nature. And also now everyone can make things look so authentic we get fooled. I have been by someone selling MLB merchandise. I should have known it was too good to be true BUT everything on the website looked so authentic with all the right logos etc. but I was taken also. Unfortunately we learn the hard way. Now I double check and triple check EVERYTHING. In no way does this make us dumb, it just makes us that much more smart :)

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories as well. It's never cool to be scammed. And the work that goes into correcting the scam trying to get your $ back is a huge hassle but I'm glad my bank is so great about this. They outright told me if there's no reply by day 15 they will grab my $ back from the account that took it because I called them right away.
