Paczki's

takoda

Are you going to eat some Paczki's today?
I know I am!!
I look forward to this day every year and start counting down the days until the next Paczki day starting the very next day.
My buts getting bigger just talking about them, but I don't care.
If you have the ambition to make your own at home here's web site that tells you how to make them.
But be forewarned having this recipe may cause you to be tempted to make them more then ounce a year! LOL <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

So tell me...

These look so yummy! What's the tradition surrounding these? Does it have to do with lent or anything?

yum!

My grandma makes them all the time! They are amazing--but deep fried :( Sometimes we skip the jelly, and make them crispier in a twisted shape :) Love them. We have another name for them in Romania, but I cannot seem to remember it..

Yes they are for lent.
People years ago made them to get rid of all the fat and eggs they had in the house so it wouldn't get wasted during the month of lent. Some people make pancakes, but I'd rather have a paczki any day. I bet I ate six of the yesterday and I bought two dozen. You can't just eat one they're just so good!!
