What the heck! Are children safe NOWHERE nowadays? I don't have any yet but that story on the news last night of the guy who snuck into a school after the doors were unlocked at the end of the day really freaked me out! What is WRONG with the world today! A little girl should be able to go pee and not worry about who is hiding the the bathroom! By the time I have children I guarantee you that schools are going to have to get someone to unlock the bloody bathroom for you to use it like they do at gas stations! Grrrrrr!!!!

I haven't gotten to the stage where I am thinking about my own children, but yes I definitely do agree. I heard about the girl who was sexually assaulted in her high school bathroom. It's outrageous! I don't even know why/how they let these people in in the first place...
Nowhere is safe these days. Security in schools should be made more of a priority.

I think schools are trying to crack down on security with locking doors during schools etc. I am just peeved that even that does not seem to be working and that predators then just sneak in at the beginning or end of the day or during recess!

This pisses me off so much too!
Girls should be able to go to the washroom without worrying that someone is taping them/going to assault them!
And this isn't just a problem in elementary and high schools - what about the total lack of security in universities?
I go to Ryerson, and it seems like every other day there's a new security report about someone harassing girls, or robbing people, or masturbating in front of one of the residences. Yes, that did actually happen.
If you ask me, the way schools should be doing it is that everyone has to have a key/card in order to be able to get into the school. At Ryerson, for instance, some of the labs with expensive equipment in them are kept locked, and you have to have your student card with you to be able to unlock them. In the residence I live in, the doors are kept locked on weekends and late at night, and you use your student card to get in. Why doesn't every school do something like that?
Also, more security cameras!

They should be protecting small children like they protect lab equipment. Wow...some of those Ryerson stories are scary...in front of a dorm....WHAT THE HECK!?!??!?! I really do think security should be amped up at schools. Children are supposed to be the future...we should protect them as such!

I didn't know about these incidents at Ryerson. I heard about a few pervs masturbating in the library from time to time but that's about it. Seriously, what is this world coming to! I get especially upset if children are victimized. Those perverts should be locked up for the rest of their lives.
