Raised Garden Beds

Ok i am doing raised beds for my veggie garden this year. Everything i have looked at says to put a layer of cardbord down before the soil. My hubby says no we don't need to do this... Anyone?

We have a raised garden at our house and didn't do that...everything still grew fine and we didn't have too many weeds/grass coming through. I'm not a very experienced gardener though so I'm sure if this is recommended it wouldn't hurt..

I was thinking that the cardboard would be to help keep moisture in but i am not sure lol.. I cant wait to get started at it!

That makes sense! I thought it might have been for weeds..clearly I'm not a very experienced gardener haha. I'm really excited to get started on mine again this year too! I love fresh veggies in the summer!

Nothing better then fresh veggies that you grow yourself lol.. I find it very relaxing as well!

I grow alot of my veggies in big planters ,it eliminates weeds and bugs

Love gardening

I am doing raised beds too, I've never used cardboard before. I also love planting veggies in pots and also hanging baskets. I moved a few months ago so I have to start my garden this year from scratch, I'm super excited also!

Pots and hanging baskets are no good here.. I live out in the country in the middle of a field on a hill... The wind terrorizes my pots and hanging baskets lol.. I used to have a huge garden but have decided that i really like the look of raised beds and it is alot easier on the back...

I finally realised this year that I'm just too lazy to try. I don't have a garden and always planned to grow window sill seeds, but I also have three cats now...

So I gave all my seeds to a community garden ^_^;
