Selling on Etsy

I was wondering if anyone has had experience selling homemade crafts on Etsy and how you went about it. I've been researching this topic, but it's always good to hear firsthand experience. Here are a few questions I have and hopefully you'll be able to answer.

1. How much inventory did you prepare ahead of time in order to be ready to sell?

2. If you used social media to gain attention, did you find one particular social media tool (ex: twitter, facebook, pinterest, etc...) more helpful than the others?

3. Did you form any partnerships with other bloggers in order to showcase your work on their websites? If so, how did you go about doing this without looking  like a creeper?

4. What do you think you should work on in order to improve your shop?

You don't need to answer all of these questions if you don't want to, but if you do have any experience with this topic, I'd appreciate the help.

If you don't have experience with this and would still like to post a response, maybe you can link one of your favorite Etsy shops and say why you like it.

I'm not a seller

But I am an Etsy shopper.

I have also worked with Etsy shops on my website, especially during my Holiday Gift Guide at Christmas. I admit I reached out to those shops though so no creep factor on their end. I do suggest you contacting bloggers on your own for promoting. Be sure to add a minimum that you will provide them with, say $25 in products and the same for a giveaway. Most bloggers have a minimum that you can negotiate. Also remember to never say the word 'free' in your pitch. It's a blogger peeve since nothing is free for us.

I wish you luck and if you do open one. Reach out to me with your shop info. I will also send you my site info and see what happens. :-)

Thank you!

Fredamans, your tips are so appreciated! I had been wondering how to go about dealing with the blogging community, as they can be a helpful partnership. I'm still in the research/idea stage and want to make sure I'm educated in all areas before I launch the shop, so that I start off on the right foot. I'll keep you in mind for sure! Thanks for the offer. I would love to check out your blog in the meantime if you would like to link it here. :)
