Something About My Teacher...

Pastel Ice

Hey guys.
So I've been suspicious of something lately.
Something about my teacher.
(If you're commenting, be sure to tell me if I'm overreacting or not, I won't mind, because that info would help me a lot)
This Story Is Very Long Just So You Know

So I'm in the 6th Grade, sort of in the beginning of 2nd Trimester. 1st Trimester was pretty ok, little conflicts and I got a good report card. Until 2nd Trimester.
I have a guy teacher, let's just call him Bob, he's been acting sort of weird lately (This has happened in 2 weeks; I've got all female teachers from the years before so this never happened to me before)

1st Scenario: Last week on a Friday, all the kids were in a room called the Multipurpose Room, (used for musicals and it's all in the name, really) After we watched the rest of some Broadway Muscial, did some candy cane diy cutting crafts, blah blah blah, I was going to turn in my scissors to one of the teachers so I can turn it in the classroom, then I turned it in to the wrong teacher, random mistake right? But it turned weird for me when Bob made some corny joke about me turning it in to the wrong teacher, hahahah whatever, (he's one of those teachers that are really nice and cracks bad puns all the time) then he winked at me as I walked away. This is not a bad thing, but he sort of had a crazy looking smile so I thought this was a warning. But I figured later that it didn't matter, he probably had some dust ball in his eye, so the day ended without a second thought. (It was warning for me at the time because I never saw him wink at anyone else before but I did see him doing that weird smile when someone does something wrong and he cracks a joke about it)

2nd Scenario: This happened today! I still remember what happened somewhat vividly. So I wear glasses, (I use 'So' a lot in my sentences right? It's probably a California thing XD) the class was correcting the math review test that we took for homework, to prepare for the upcoming math test. After we all correcting the math review, the class began to take the math test. The test went a long pretty smoothly, it was a lot easier than I thought! But then, when the girl next to me asked for help on one particularly difficult question, what happened next was one of the most awkward things a teacher has ever done for me, or anyone really..
After the girl got the help she needed, Bob plopped himself down on one knee, separated by only a desk. I proceeded to continue working. But then he asked this:
"I always get you mixed up with   [some other girl].  Could you take off your glasses so I can see [I forgot what he said after that]?"
So um, I took off my glasses hesitantly.
I remember glancing around sort of confused and slightly frowning because this situation was just so awkward for me. I did not want to keep eye contact with the teacher right now! (Keep in mind that this was during a Math Test, this session in school is supposed to be quiet, and he comes up saying all those forsaken words with everyone at my table sort of glancing at me, feeling sorry but can't do anything about it ;/ )
And yeah, that's what happened.
I feel like I'm overreacting, but I need someone's help here on what to do, I'm so confused. Thanks!

I just realized, some things were grammatically incorrect, I'm very sorry for those who have those pet peeves :(

Hey hey

Ok the teacher is for sure boardering on creepy. You’re not supposed to wink at students that is a basic form of flirting. Unless he has a nervous twitch? Or is he like “Hey kid, chin up” kinda wink?? Asking to see you without your glasses on is really odd. If you feel uncomfortable your feelings are not usually wrong. I feel uncomfortable for you, especially after the “take off the glasses” thing. You should maybe take this to your parents or student counsellor not to make a big deal of it or for the teacher to know about it, but just so someone higher up knows that you feel uncomfortable and can remain confidential. Maybe other students in the past have said something. I personally do not think you are overreacting. My husband also read your message and he agrees with you and I.

You are not overreacting

If your gut is telling you something is off about this teacher, listen to it.

You do not have to remove your glasses (or any article of clothing / accessory that is normally allowed in school) just because he asks you to without a valid reason (like safety).

You are allowed to say No, even to an adult. It is not rude to say that you are not comfortable with taking your glasses off.

This guy definitely pings on my creep radar. He might be an awkward dude, or he could be trying to groom you. Best not to take chances and avoid being around him when possible, especially on your own. I would also speak to your parents or school counsellor (if you have one) about him making you feel uncomfortable.

There is a great book called "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin de Becker. It talks about trusting your instincts and that they are there for a reason. It teaches you about warning signs to help protect yourself. It's a pretty quick read and might help with your current situation.

bad teacher

I also had such a teacher. Because of this, I didn't like going to school and generally hated school for it. Now I am already in college and also hate teaching. That's why I started using this service https://writix.com/ to do my homework through it. I prefer the time saved on homework to spend on work. I love this essay writing service.
