Thrifty Christmas Shopping for Toddlers

Okay, so I have a 2 year old in the family who is absolutely Dora obsessed!

I've been to all the toy stores, and malls etc, combing the isles for Dora things, which I found were mostly over priced!

That is, until today!

At the local Dollarama store, I got the following items for $28 dollars:

-2 Dora colouring books
-Dora learn to count activity book
-Dora garbage can
-Dora growth chart
-3 Dora wall decor stick ons
-Dora Thermos
-Dora water bottle
-Dora crayons
-Dora toothpaste (and bought a generic pink toothbrush for toddlers)
-Dora 20 piece hair accessory set

Everything I bought fits into the Dora garbage can, so I also purchased clear basket wrap, and pink ribbon (included in the $28 total!)

This was a total score, as most kids that age are only entertained by something for a few moments at a time, so I was able to get a bunch of things, without breaking the bank!

Just thought I'd share in case anyone else out there had a little one in their life that loves Dora as much as this little gal!  (The dollar store also had tons of Spiderman, Cars, Toy Story and Disney Princess stuff!!)

Great finds

I love going to the Dollarama, you can always find the same things there
for a lot cheaper then in any other store. I'm in there at least ounce a
month. When your kids are that little they don't know, or care where
you buy things for them, they're just happy to have something. I loved
it when my boys were that small. Now everything they want for Christmas
costs a small fortune!! I can't get away with the dollar store any more. Just talking about it makes me want to go.LOL

That's awesome!! :)

This reminds me of a post-wedding "welcome to having your own home" bridal shower we threw a friend of ours a few years back. I went to the dollar store and picked up a TON of home stuff, from wooden spatulas, to pans, to bins, to stirring thingies, etc. to welcome her into her own home / "real life" of cooking for her own family :-)

I think the Dora, or Spiderman or Toys or Cars idea is just perfect for little toddlers! Tons of glorious toys and fun stuff without breaking the bank.

My friends did a similar thing when I moved into my first apartment! Its great!

I remember the quality of things at the dollar store being terrible when I was younger, but things are more durable (yes probably more likely to break than a $20 version of the same item), but oftentimes I prefer the dollarstore version.

For example things like parchment paper, aluminum foil, and plastic baggies, same quality, half the price of the grocery store!

Dollorama Pots, Vase, Woods

I love the stickers and little bouncy balls for kids. NOthing cheaper anywhere.

For my own pleasure, I bought vase, ceramics, and stuff. I am a houseplant lover, gardener, many gifts I made myself. A decent vase and ceramic planters, put some nice plants and bingo - lovely housewarming gift.

I love Dollarama! I also remember dollar stores being pretty bad when I was younger. I always stock up on lip smackers there, it's so much cheaper. I probably go once a week. I'm going to sound very cheap but I was sad when the prices went up to 2$ for somethings.
