When to Spring Clean?

Daylight savings time arrives in a few days... when do you begin your spring cleaning? What's your most effective way of getting inspired to do it OR what are your best tips to get 'er done?

I've already started

Tashacat I literally just wrote an article about this (will be posted shortly). I'm totally already in that mode. I hate clutter so any excuse to tidy up!

I usually start around March brake

Having the boy's home from school is very helpful for me
because I have a hard time getting around. Plus I can get them to go
through their own stuff and donate what can be donated. I think changing
the clocks is also a big motivator for me, just seeing more of the sun
gets me in the mood to prepare my home for open windows and fresh air.

Sooner rather than later...

I'll be watching for it, ali!

I find I wait too long and then the fun of spring starts and I don't want to be inside and cleaning. I barely got any done last year. I think tackling one project at a time or one room each weekend from now till May 1???

Good point, takoda - the extra light is a kick-start and I'm gearing up for donations of all kinds. Very little needs to go to the garbage when there are women's shelters, humane societies, habitat for humanity, community paint sheds (to share usable paint), eye glasses for Africa, etc. I used to make a list about what to donate and where and send it around my office every year.

You're right you can find just about any where to donated every thing
now a days. I try to do that as much as I can. The only problem I have
with donating is that my oldest boy like's going to used close stores
and he brings home more stuff. He took off just last night and came home
with a bag full of used things for himself. My younger son laughs at
him, but he does find some good deals, even though we don't care for his
taste. He really surprises me with some of the stuff he buy's. He
bought a sweater vest last night and my youngest boy almost wet his
pants laughing at him.LOL

We also have a recycling place and a habitat for humanity right around
the corner from our house. So its very convenient for us to bring old paint and
other things like that to be recycled and or reused. I think it also
teaches our children good habits that they can carry on even if they'd
rather be out side playing then inside cleaning right now. After its all
over with I know they feel good about what they have done for others
and their own home and I think that's what counts the most when we're
doing our spring cleaning.

I just got it done

I totally understand about lacking the motivation to start and finish your spring cleaning but today I just told myself I was going to work until it was done and I finally got it all done for which I am incredibly grateful. Once you get it done you won't regret it!

What is inspiring me to do some spring cleaning (with a major focus with my closet) is that I want to upgrade my wardrobe, so making space for new clothes, shoes and whatnot is a great motivator!!
