When travelling...

When you ladies are planning trips do you use a travel agent to book things or do you go online to websites like expedia and book things yourself? Do you have any website recommendations for airfare?

I can't really help you here because when I travel, I book through Travel Cuts, the student agency.

I'm really not sure!

Oh travel cuts! I miss good ol' Travel Cuts! I am in the midst of looking for a flight for my chick trip 2007 and I am just trying to make sure I explored all online options or travel agent options before I put my money down somewhere...

I'm in Florida ;-) on Jan 31, 2007 @ 02:28 am

MizzRobin send me a meebo from my profile and let me know where in Fla you plan to go and I could help suggest a few places . . . I've lived here for about 30 yrs and travel frequently as a local tourist ;-)

My husband is a travel website junkie, so I'll ask him since he books all of our travel and ALWAYS gets a great deal. Just let me know what kind of an adventure you're looking for etc. as there is more to Fla than just the Mouse House !

Mouse House! on Jan 31, 2007 @ 03:01 pm

HAHAHAH Hey! My sister just moved from Toronto to West Palm a couple years ago so I plan on going to visit her, then Fort Lauderdale, then Miami. I was thinking of visiting the Mouse House just because I have never been... I have never used meebo but I will give it a shot!

We don't book any hotels until we've checked them out here first. www.tripadvisor.com. Also, be careful when booking flights online that aren't direct. If you have multiple stopovers you could miss flights if you don't take into consideration transfering terminals, etc.

We've booked a few trips through Flight Center, and have gotten some great service. If you live in Toronto the summerhill location gave us fantastic service. The store manager actually drove our tickets to us because there was a problem on the system when it was booked. We were really impressed.

Having an agent also means someone is looking out for things like terminal transfers, etc.

I have noticed this... on Jan 31, 2007 @ 11:20 pm

if you book a trip on expedia.ca sometimes they make VERY TIGHT flight connections (45mins) between flights. All it takes is a little delay and it can throw your whole trip off completely! Interesting that you should mention Flight Centre. I just discovered two days ago that they now have a website. They have flights on there through Air Canada for approx $240 all taxes incl to Florida. When I went to aircanada.ca the same flight was $646 and on expedia.ca it was $260! Sheesh! Makes you wonder why the SAME flights have such a big discrepancy in cost depending on what website you go to! An agent does sound like a good idea for things that may come up like terminal transfers etc. I had not thought of that. Thanks!

I got your meebo . . . but I was daydreamin' and missed you on Feb 01, 2007 @ 05:35 pm

We use travelzoo.com often and get GREAT deals on "last minute" offers. What I suggest is that you look and then call directly to ask if you can get the same rate during your travel timeframe. Often you can get good deals if you book in advance (directly with the desk at the hotel) when you tell them you saw the deal on travelzoo.

ALWAYS get a confirmation number and a name when you call because we've had to use this information once we arrived.

I can't remember where we stayed last time in Orlando, but I suggest you stay near DIsney and take advantage of the shuttles they offer. The hotels on Disney itself are very small and some need an overhaul desperately ! You can get MUCH better accomodations off property if you stay in Orlando. I'll get back to you on the place we stayed . . . it was brand new and beautiful !

Travelzoo site on Feb 01, 2007 @ 08:31 pm

Hey Tina, I took a look at the travelzoo website...cool! Thank you very much for the tip. I just got back from finally confirming my trip. In the end I went to Flightcentre.ca I hope it all goes smoothly! I can't wait to see Florida for the first time. It is so weird that I have been island hopping through the Caribbean but it never occurred to me to visit Florida until my sister moved there. I am VERY EXCITED! I hear it is very warm down there this time of year. Yes please let me know if you remember where you stayed in Orlando..the info would be very much appreciated. I am now off to try and figure out how to add Meebo to my profile on ChickAdvisor! :o)

comparison shopping on Feb 21, 2007 @ 11:28 am

If you want to see a lot of different prices for flights, hotels, vacation packages, etc. go to www.sidestep.com.
On there you can search 600 airlines and 150 travel sites all at the same time - much easier than searching in a million different places.
