Your Home Is Your Castle, Noone Elses

I had two of my dogs out walking yesterday and met a guy walking his.He told me that they are going door to door to check if we have dog licences and he is scared stiff; he is elderly and not that rich I assume. I told him quite simply, do not answer your door and it will blow over before he knows it.I emphasized the fact that it was his home, his door and if he chose not to answer he didn't have to. I seemed to allieve his stress and I felt good.

This happened to me

When we moved to our current home, I forgot to get my dog licensed right away in the bustle of moving and getting settled. Someone reported that they didn't think my dog was licensed and a bylaw officer showed up but I wasnt home. So they left a note. Then I received a letter from the city saying I had 10 days to license my dog or else pay a $1000 fine. I've never heard of them going door to door but they will call on you if they feel there's reason or the get a complaint.

Dog Licenses

I heard it was really expensive. Seems nuts to me. And who are these people reporting? What terrible busybodies. Just another way to keep poor people down.
