A HUGE thank you to the ladies of this forum!I have been lurking around this forum for about a week now as I've had a cyst for about that long. I had come across other forums that were so negative and caused me to worry more and sink into depression. I really wanted to say that I appreciate every one on here being so positive and helpful as I didn't want to do the medical procedures either. I had a bartholin cyst once before about 5 years ago but it was pretty small and went away without much more than sitz baths and advil. I think it has A LOT to do with stress. I've been extremely stressed lately and I was when I got the last one too. I also think that condoms with spermicide have something to do with it too. I can't tell for sure but I know spermicide has given me a yeast infection before too.
Mine lasted a week before it finally burst. The last 2 days were unbelievably excruciating. Just wanted to leave my two cents on here too in case people are looking for any remedies:
I tried making the Epsom salt paste but that didn't really work as well as I would have liked. I felt like the roughness of the salt grains actually irritated the cyst more. I did find HUGE relief in the Tea Tree oil. I would mix together a couple tablespoons of Epsom salts with 10-15 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil (I found mine at the local health food store. I recommend picking some up in any case, it's really good stuff to have around). I added a little hot water to melt the salt and then soaked cotton pads in the solution and pressed them on to the cyst, making sure to insert them into my vagina a little to make sure it got around the whole thing. I got the bathtub running with SUPER hot water and then pressed the hot washcloth over the cotton pads. I would repeat this for about 30 minutes a few times a day.
When it finally burst I could tell it must have abcessed because it was (warning, this is kinda graphic) it was really bloody and didn't smell very good. I didn't even care though because the pain was almost immediately gone. Now it's just a little tender and I wear a pad and clean it every couple of hours. If anything changes I'll post but for now, all seems to be on the uptick.
Thanks again to all the ladies here! It has helped more than you know!
