on Feb 17, 2014 @ 09:58 pm

I just recently started birth control for my acne which is a constant struggle for me and my self esteem, I was just wondering how long does it take to clear up and does it usually get worse before better? I would really like to hear your experiences thanks :)

It will get better! on Feb 18, 2014 @ 11:58 am

Depending on what birth control you are taking it could take up to six months. But don't worry it will get better! I started taking Marvelon when I was 18 and it cleared up my skin in about six months, and try to mix in some clean eating it will help the cause. I still get some zits every now and then but it's definitely an improvement!

I hope this helps:)

That sucks, I went through the same sort of thing. I am 24 now and I was 23 I think when it started, though I should be past all the horomones, for some reason, by skin just FLARED up. I went on the BCP and within the first month, it had decreased, by three months it was a lost better. Though, Christina is right, by 6 months it was noticeable better. It takes a while to work. Also, try switching up your cleanser and looking at your diet and habits to see if that is affected.

I went on Birth Control for the same reasons a few years ago, and it really helped me out. It did take a few months before I began seeing any differences, but they happened... just try to be patient. :)

I don't need any type of medication for my skin anymore. It isn't flawless by any means, but not bad enough to take anything for it. As a cleanser, I use St. Ives Apricot Acne Scrub and it is amazing. Way better than any of the Oxy, Neutrogena, etc. products in my opinion.
