Can you have anxiety and not even know it?

Vlicious

I was having an interesting conversation with a friend this morning that stemmed from dreams I've been having of being chased!

I googled dream interpretation and it basically said that I'm currently not dealing with a situation and it stems from feelings of anxiety in my waking life.

So my friend brought up an interesting question:  Do you think you can suffer from anxiety and not really know it?? Is it possible you can have physical symptoms that derive from anxiety but
not really know you have/suffer it??

I believe so!  You can think you handle situations well, but in fact do things subconsciously that you don't associate as a sign of anxiety!  People over-eat during stressful situations... not being able to sleep at night... all these simple things we might chalk up to being tired or not feeling like ourselves, our reactions could in fact be a sign on anxiety!

Thoughts anyone?!

I think so

It could be something small or a series of small things that are nagging at you. Then again, I've had dreams like that when there really isn't anything going on. Like I am trying to run away from something but can't and then it turns out my legs were crossed when I was sleeping or I try to scream but can't (no good explanation here). Dreams are really interesting to me.

Constant!

I think this particular dream bothers me because I've been having it for months! It's always something or someone different chasing me, but definitely me being chased and running!

Heck, I think I've ran more in my dreams then I have my whole life! Lol! I even wake up tired sometimes! :p

Stress vs. Anxiety

I think maybe what you're experiencing is stress rather than anxiety. I think when you're feeling anxious, you know it but an underlying stress which can cause some anxiety can be harder to diagnose. Sometimes you don't even know that you're stressed until the you finally get a chance to relax.

Also- I wouldn't interpret your dreams too much or look at them too closely. Sometimes a dream, is just that- a dream and it doesn't mean anything at all!

Stress

I agree with Alexjc!
If you had anxiety, trust me you'd know it!
