Cuts on hands and fingers

on Jan 26, 2007 @ 08:11 pm

I don't know about everyone else, but during the winter the cold, dry winds always makes my hands crack and bleed. Other than using hand cream to prevent them, do you know of anything that would keep the cuts clean (after they are there)?

All I can think of post moisturizing them is that spray on Band-aid stuff to keep the cuts clean and seal around the wounds... I hope it works for you! :o)

This used to happen to me on Jan 27, 2007 @ 01:26 pm

When I lived in Winnipeg my knuckles bled every winter from dryness. I don't have this problem in TO but I'm also constantly putting hand cream on. Use the BallBuster Artist ;) Carry it with you and see if that helps.

I'm thinking of an answer . . . on Feb 01, 2007 @ 05:16 pm

Hey artist ! I'm working on an answer for you, but until then, read my follow-up on "Incredibly Dry Skin" it may help along with the other things you're trying !

Also if you work with a lot of paper, make sure you use a barrier cream, moisterizer, etc. because paper is VERY drying to the hands ;-) tina - scents of peace

Thanks Tina, I read your follow up.

In terms of what I work with, I tend to work with oil mediums and dry powder paint pigments. yikes! I know. Now you can see why leads to the damage...

I always try to wear gloves though when working with them.
