Yup! Im in the same boat.....When I got sick 4 years ago I completely changed my way of living. Ive been obsessed with what I put on my body, what I eat and what I breathe in. I try too not go overboard but when you get an illness you start too wonder if what you did in the past had anything to do with it.

Balance

When you get sick, it's easy to look for something to blame and be terrified of getting sick again and it can create a sort of anxiety (especially if you already have or are prone to anxiety). It took me a long time and a lot of scientific reading (outside of the often un-verified science and health knowledge that is pushed in papers from bad studies that have small sample sizes and haven't been proven well) to learn that it was not my fault.

Things you do can, of course, contribute to poor health. So do what you can, where you can. But as humans, we are for too eager to blame people for their health problems (ourselves included) without compassion. If you're like me, the pressure of doing the 'right thing' can destroy you and you'll struggle more with your health if you worry too much.

A lot of health issues are caused by a large percentage of luck and genetics. So my advice is to be gentle with yourself and try and do what you can, but don't let it overwhelm you.

Don't forget, mental health and stress are just as important to see to, as physical health, but I understand how scary it is. Sending you strength.

When I was first diagnosed with asthma and allergies I was super careful to avoid triggers and then as a little time went by, I realized I was not going to die if I touched one of my triggers. I am just careful to wash my hands afterwards.

Health obsessed

Yes, I am a Celiac and found out nearly 30 years ago, the older I get the more I worry that permanent damage has been done to my intestines.... silly as there is evidence of that at all.

Health Obsessed?

If you've had a bad experience with a hospital or health organisation it's natural to worry about your future appointments, follow ups and dealings with professionals. Maybe a health professional made a mistake, and you are worried about the implications for future health.

I can understand why people would gain more worries about their health during this global crisis which has overwhelmed all of the hospitals.

Don't focus on that one bad experience you had. Just because it happened once doesn't mean it will happen again. Because the regulations on routine medical procedures change all the time, you're likely to be safer than before.
