Pepcid or Nexium on Jan 10, 2009 @ 10:42 am
I do. I used to take Pepcid which you can get from the drug store, but eventually mine got worse and I saw my doctor. She perscribed Nexium which works really well, but I have been told it is the strongest kind, and should not have been perscribed to me right away. I should also mention that it is really expensive even after benefits. Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you!
Zantac on Jan 10, 2009 @ 09:14 pm
I took Zantac (or the generic "ranitidine" acid reducer) when I was pregnant and had bad heartburn. Fairly quick relief and long lasting. Much better than Tums or Rolaids! I used the regular strength (75mg?); you can also get it in 150mg strength and it's not that expensive. I also found that the generic (any drugstore's generic) worked just as well, and was cheaper too.
Gaviscon ..and a few non medical items to try on Jan 19, 2009 @ 01:38 am
My mom uses Gaviscon extra strength - and it works pretty well for her :)
One of my friend's drinks a glass of lemon water in the morning on empty stomach and that really helps her control heartburn throughout the day.
I'm not very good at drinking water, so I tried plain vanilla ice cream (her suggestion too) and i found that also helps.
One of my other friends uses zantac. I believe he takes one before each meal.
Oh and 7up works wonders too...
if nothing seems to help then go see a doctor! hope you feel better...
