It's common when first having it installed to experience heavy bleeding and irregular periods before they stop. This is the hormone entering your body.

Is it the hormonal mirena?

And is it heavy bleeding or just light? Color?

Give it another month to settle before going back to consult! Hang in there!

For the first month I spotted a bit but after that haven't had a period or any problems since. I have had it in for 4 years now and it's great.

I spotted for a month as well when I got it.
I am on my second one and have had absolutely no issues with it. It will eventually stop, if you are worried about it then call your gyno to ease your mind :)

I had my IUD removed last April but I had it in for 5 years. I never had a problem with it shifting but did end up at emerge because I couldn't find the strings. Luckily they had only tucked them selves up it wasn't a big deal. I had severe heavy bleeding when it was put in for about a month but it stopped for the complete remainder of the time I had it in. When I had it removed I bled for almost two months. Since having it removed I choose that I was ready for children so I never replaced it. I have had no luck in getting pregnant in 11 months. Beware that this can prevent pregnancy as well as you can have no problems at all. All I can say is please do your research on these before you make a decision to get one.

I have the merena IUD. I have had it for about a year and a half now. I do not usually get my period now, just some spotting on occasion.

Sometimes I will get my period when women in my life get theirs. But not often. I am used to not getting my period, the only time I have ever had a regular period was when I was on the pill.

I had alot of pains a few months ago that I though the IUD was causing, but it was just my PCOS acting up.
