I've been on Ortho for years. If you're not a smoker, it is great to keep you regulated. As for the acne, it actually comes with Ortho, not improves. Talk to your doctor though about what is best for you. A lot of it has to do with your hormone levels and age. :-)

I was on that birth control before

It wasn't the right birth control for me it was causing me some problems, so just talk to your doctor about which one is best for you! And everyone's body is different mine just reacted badly to this one unfortunately. I was on Yaz for the longest time I currently am not using any birth control.

Not sure about Ortho but...

I don't know about Ortho, but I was on Alesse for the longest time and it cleared up all my acne within a month of using it!

I liked it - but its just me !

I am not exactly sure about the original, but I started using ortho tricylen-lo (which is suppose to have a lower dosageof hormones) because I mentioned I was on a pill for bad acne. The doctor tapered me off the acne pill and recommended this to me to essentially "kill 2 birds with one stone". I've been using it for about 4 years now and have no problems with it.

I would suggest going to a doctor so they can give you a proper recommendation on what's best to use. Good luck !

Thanks !

@kylee can I ask what problems it gave you? You don't have to answer if you feel uncomfortable I completely understand

the problem

the problem with birth control is that everyone is going to react differently. I have been on alesse for 12 years but there was a stint of about 2 years where my provider would only cover the "generic" brand and not alesse name brand. it was the worst two years of my life. I was overly hormonal. I thought I was going crazy. at 21, I was breaking out like never before and was put on prescription creams for my face. After doing some research I decided to ask my doctor to switch me back to brand name alesse - I learned that if she writes "no substitutions" on the prescription, my insurance will cover it :)

even though they say that generic and name brand are "pretty much the same" - even the slightest hormonal difference is enough to throw some people out of whack. and that's likely how so many women react differently on different birth controls.

you will know what's best for you. if you're on one you don't like, feel free to ask for another recommendation.

To answer your question

It was causing me shortness of breath and dizziness. But like I said everyone's body is different , I would reccommend maybe trying it out for a few weeks and if you don't have any problems with it then great! :) but remember you can always consult your doctor if you are experiencing problems with a certain birth control.

Did it help your face? If you had any acne problems? @kylee

I dont have acne

But I know that birth control helps clear acne for sure! My friend went on birth control to clear her acne and it worked for her :)
