Self Defense for Women

I have done a few martial arts workshops and I am getting involved in self-defense classes at my university.

I want to say this to all the women out there: Self defense is REALLY, REALLY important, and I think that EVERY woman should take a course.

So you if you have the chance, do it! It could save your life...

Never tried it...

I have never tried the self defense thing but I have always meant to give it a try. If ever you go to a class off campus or that a non university student can go to, let me know!

Self Defense

MizzRobin, if I find out a place I will let you know. There are many types of self defense training. The one meant for women is Wen-do. My school started offering it and pressuring women to take it because there has been two sex attacks on campus (terrible, I know).

Muay Thai is also really good, it is the oldest form of martial arts.

I agree

I totally agree! Thats one of the first sports my parents put me in and never regretted it. Took it for 8 years and it def disciplines you on what to do should an attack occur. FYI- Best form of martial arts in my view - Muy Thai

Hey La Isla ,what is it? Can you take it at a gym or do you have to take it at a martial arts centre?

Muay Thai

La Isla, you have done Muay Thai??? I really want to do that one! Or Wen-do but Wen-do is almost solely for self defense purposes.

I think that most martial arts classes are offered at centres. And there are so many to choose from.

Muy Thai

Well, I did kickboxing for 7 years, muy thai for a few months and Gu Gitsu for another few months. Muy Thai isnt as common as other forms. I only know of one guy Ed that teaches it downtown. Its kinda considered an underground form of martial arts cause its pretty deadly. hehe. just the way i like it.

Yeah I know I can definitely see that! I don't think it is for me. I would stick with one more mainstream.
