I'm about to start adding fibre supplements to my diet because I simply don't get enough. There are a number of different types of fibre, and so many ways to take it. What's the best way to take fibre? Any tips and tricks?

*What are the best fibre supplements? What type of fibre do you take? What form do you take it in (pill/ powder with water/ powder with food?)? What time of day do you take it?

Hi there!
What seems to be working for me recently is juicing some fruits and veggies in the morning that are high in fibre, such as cucumbers, ground up flax seeds, carrots, green apples (with peel), spinach, berries, and some Greek yogurt! It has really boosted my metabolism and it's the only way I eat so many fruits and veggies!
I use the Nutribullet and it works great!! :)

Hello,I completely agree with Vlicious.I make juice too with celery,apples and carrots.It has 2 benefits one it has lots of fiber in it and second one is that it helps your body to flush toxins out like a mild cleanse.Its easy to make and tastes good.

I have tried fibre supplements but generally it is hard on my stomach so I agree with the other Chicks that meeting the need in my daily meals is the way to go.

One thing I learned the hard way is that with extra fibre you need to increase your water intake even more. We were always told that eating fibre is good for constipation, but in truth if you don't drink more then you actually get more constipated!

Great suggestions... but I'm avoiding fruits and I'm not crazy about juicing veggies. My tummy is actually fine on it's own, but I'll definitely follow your
suggestions about increasing my water to with the extra fibre.

I'm specifically considering fibre to lower blood glucose in a natural way... and to manage cholesterol. Is anyone else using it for this purpose? I'm weighting psyllium vs wheat and I've heard the psyllium is quite goopy to drink.

Psyllium is really good for your stomach.It can be used in constipation as well as in diarrhea.If anybody have constipation they can take psyllium with hot milk before bed and if anybody have diarrhea they can take psyllium with yogurt anytime.It really helps.I know TMI but thought might help you.

If you take the powder supplements definitely take with a LOT of water. Not drinking enough water with it will cause more problems than it solves by far. Metamucil is a good one to try though. It's more or less flavorless and easy to take when mixed with a glass of water.
