Hi Cathy Cee, I know what tumeric is and haven't really used it. Could you please post on here what your experiences with it has been? I'm very intrigued by this now and would love to hear what great benefits it provides you. This is an excellent topic and thanks so much for posting. Any time I can learn something new, is a good day! Thanks again and have a great weekend, Ginger.

Weeeeeell since you asked...

To make a LOOOOOOOOONG story shorter, i found out about 6 years ago that i had Osteoarthritis in my spine and hips, and i was taking Naproxen for the pain, after using it for a prolong period and never really giving me relief... it jacked up my blood pressure to dangerous levels, so i went on a bit of a self journey for alternative options, one of those stops was Dr. Fuhrman (you may have seen him on Dr. Oz or your local PBS station talking about his plant based (raw vegan) lifestyle which he talked about dairy being one of the worst causes for inflamation of the joints, so i decided to give it 6 weeks (more of a elimination diet) so i went totally off all dairy and meat protiens and low and behold after a week or so i didn't need my morning dose..a week later my evening dose was given up, out went the Naproxen and then the blood pressure pills. So that brings me to Turmeric, i had heard it could knock the air out of the severity of a cold so i youtubed Tumeric to get a recipe for a drink/tea of some sort and came across a recipe for Golden Milk, and i started making it that evening, i drink soy milk now and it works very well with non dairy...a little side note here, i recently went through a colerectol cancer screening and it came back everthing in the optimal range (liver kidneys colon and cholestrol) i should tell you also that i am 53 and considered overweight let me also tell you i have always led an active life excercise regularly. and i totally blame my wonky thyroid and the occasional love affair with Ice cream. *cough* anyways, im happy to share my recipe if anyone is interested. :)

Hi CathyCee. I would love to have your recipe. I have hypothyroidism and am over weight. I'm 46 and have degenerative disc disease in my back too. A lot of different medical problems. If I can find an alternative to taking all these meds, I'm willing to try it. The meds do so much damage to your body. I take brand name Synthroid for my thyroid and have been taking meds for about 9 yrs and my weight has doubled. It won't budge and I get so aggravated with it. I will definitely research turmeric and see what it says. And thank you for your recipe. I hope you have a great day, Ginger.

No Problem

1/4 cup of Tumeric

1/2 tsp Pepper (don't skip the pepper it is essential in powering up the Tumeric benefits)

1/2 cup of water

mix the water and pepper in a small saucepan till almost boiling, add the tumeric stir till it comes together in a paste, add a small amount of water if needed, this comes together very quickly so don't leave the stove.

Golden Milk

add 1 tsp to your favorite non dairy milk and 1 tsp of coconut oil (you can heat this all together in the sauce pan, i use a immersion blender to mix everything then heat it in the microwave for 2 minutes) add a tsp of honey or other sweetner of choice.

Now i really liked the taste from the start but my sister didn't care for it..she spread the paste and honey on her morning toast. Please let me know how you liked it.

I've used turmeric as a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory "supplement" for a few years now and I have seen that it has reduced my need of taking medication and the pain I experienced in the past hasn't come back as frequently as it did before. I've tried making Golden Milk but wasn't too crazy about the taste. I prefer using turmeric in other recipes such as chili, stir frys, chicken soup, rice and mashed potatoes.
