What time of day do you workout?

After 6 years in a mostly evening-only routine I'm switching up to a morning cardio/evening strength training regime - since there is TONS of beautiful sunlight early in the AM and I want to savour extra relaxation in the PM and not spend it ALL at the gym.

I felt pretty rough after a 630am run this morning - like, I was ready for a nap at 8am haha (though I know I didn't sleep well last night).

What do you prefer? Will by body and mind eventually get used to this early morning routine?

When ever I get a chance it depends if I am working or not I like to workout in the morning though because it really seams to give me more energy for the whole day. I also like to walk my dogs a couple times a day, Great Post. Thanks Have a great day!

Hi Christine - thanks for the reply! I agree, I think once I am used to getting up at 6am to run it should give me more energy. I usually work out in the mornings on the weekend and think that it gives me a great boost to my day! Enjoy your day - happy hump day :)

me too

@thekarma101 I agree! when I first started working out I would go late at night when the gym was empty. the gym I go to now generally isn't very busy at any time so I have been going right after work so that I could get it over with. I think I'm going to like getting it done in the morning though - especially in the spring/summer when the weather is so beautiful, I want to take advantage of it!

Workout Times

I actually have 2 routines. When I'm at home I run after work. I get up at 6 am weekdays and to get up and have a run before would mean getting up at 5 which is too darn early (and dark in winter!) But that being said....on weekends and when on holidays out at the cabin I run in the mornings. It just seems to work better for me and after a year and a half my body seems mostly (lol!) ok with this schedule!

@snazzytank I agree - 5am would be a treacherous wakeup call, especially to work out (and even moreso when it's dark outside!!) I was ok with the 6am wakeup call to get some cardio finished before work - but anything before 6am would be a no-go for me!

For me its AM for sure, I feel more motivated, have more energy and its just a great way how to start your day.

I workout right after work so that is usually about 11:30 a.m. If I don't work out right after work then I would never workout because once I sit down and relax I don't want to get back up again haha. I just do my 25 minute Pilates or lift weights and use my bosu ball.

And to answer your question!

I think you will get used to the routine, it takes 21 days to form a good routine :) but I'm sure it will start to get easier and easier day by day. It's just like with starting anything new, it takes time to get used to it! Slowly but surely you will and it wil get better. Good luck!
