I'm there too!

I now fully understand how hard this is. I have huge respect for all of you Moms out there going back to work because it's not easy. Aside from myself I have 5 friends all going back to work between now and August and we've all struggled with it. However those that have already started said it's not as bad as you think. Some are even excited about it because they enjoy being a professional again in addition to being a Mommy. Some things I think make it easier are:

- Do you enjoy your job? If you like what you do, going back is much easier. If you don't, now might be a good time to look for something else.

- Is there any flexibility with your position that you might be able to work one day from home or do a 4 day week? Some employers are willing to negotiate this. Even if you make slightly less, that extra day at home can make a huge difference.

Just know that you are doing the best you can and that your baby will be just fine. Even if you go back to work and decide it's not working out, you can always make adjustments such as finding a new job or maybe deciding to stay home for longer. Don't feel that what you are doing is permanent and that it's going to be horrible. In the mean time enjoy every precious moment with your little one. Big hugs to you!!

Thank you!

Thank you Ali-de-bold!!! I really appreciate taking the time to write back!!! I Enjoyed my first day back but I am so sad about every moment I am going to miss with her! I cannot work at home, unfortunately there is not enough staff for this option, but I am working part time! Thank you so much for the encouragement! There are sometimes I wish that women never asked to work or be equals, but that is just when I have to leave my child! I appreciate that I have a good job! Why is it so expensive to live in BC! Sorry just a rant! I am done! :) Thank you again for your reply!

Toronto is really expensive too!

I know - I think a lot of moms would choose to stay home if they didn't need the extra income, but I think even more would prefer to have a mix of both so they can still have the professional interactions in addition to baby time.

I do feel incredibly blessed to be able to do both. I actually think that is why so many women start businesses when they are home with small children. Maybe that would be an option for you one day! XOXO
