a day at the mall ...

spotty

Several friends of mine from Monterey headed to DC for the inauguration
so I braved the crowds today, the day before the inauguration, to meet
up w/ them in DC. The Capitol Building and the Mall were a site to see!
The energy in the air was amazing. People were there from all walks of
life from so many different backgrounds. But what was the most amazing
was the community and camaraderie that existed. Complete strangers
would talk to you as though you were friends. For the most part,
everyone there had one basic thing in common w/ everyone else there.
That one thing, fans and supporters of Obama, was the one thing that
bonded everyone there ... and it was all that was needed. It truly was
an amazing experience. Someone described it as New Years Eve in Times
Square, sans alcohol!

But, having been a part of Monday, I'm satisfied. I think I will watch
Tuesday's festivties from the comfort of my own couch, all snuggled up
in a warm blanket!

Good idea!

Wow that sounds really amazing. It's great to see so much support for him. I would do the same of you btw. I can only handle big crowds short term.
