Black Friday Shopping

More and more Canada is taking up this US tradition. Are you shopping for Black Friday or Cyber Monday? What are you buying this year?

definitely shopping online

I won't set foot in a store on these crazy sales unless it's something really good. I do all my shopping online. My husband bought an Xbox One bundle that was on sale and came with two games (they normally come with just one). And we bought a Canon T5.

I saw a TV report a couple of years ago about how Black Friday came to Canada just as a way of stores piggy-backing off the hype that takes place in the US. Stores may offer a couple of things that are a decent deal, but everything else is the price of a normal sale. All about perception. I don't fall for it, lol!

No Big Deal!

I have never shopped on Black Friday, it's simply a marketing ploy to my opinion. There might be a few really good prices to get people in and then it's like any other normal sale, the whole point is that you'll buy other things that are not on sale while you're there. But unless you absolutely need something that you've been meaning to buy, than I don't see the point. People end up buying things they wouldn't have bought in the first place, so save your money. I've always said I'm not a salesperson's dream lol. When I want or need something, I pretty much know where I can find it, I go in, look for it, if they have exactly what I want at a price I am ok with, I buy it, and leave, voila, end of story lol. Shopping is not my hobby, I find it boring, tedious for the most part, and I don't like being in large crowds. Although in Canada, Black Friday doesn't seem as bad as in the US. Camping out in front of the stores or malls in order to be one of the first in, trampling down people, punching and at times even the use of weapons in order to get the latest I-phone least that is what I've heard on the news in years past. Just Crazy! It's just stuff, material stuff, and the more trips one makes to the shopping mall to buy things to fill these holes in their lives, the less happy one will ultimately become, because nothing material will ever fill what is empty inside a person, so those trips to the mall will never end, a sad cycle that affects a great deal of people, sad to say!

Not such a big deal?

I ended up buying nothing! I'm too lazy to line up outside stores and wait to see if they have more than 2 of an item selling well below manufacturers cost. I didn't see anything that was better than the January sales...did you?

I didn't either

every year I get all into it like I'm going to and then never bother... most of the deals don't seem that great to me and it is a lot of hassle. I hate crowded stores.
