Coronavirus Precautions...

Coronavirus

There’s just no ignoring the fact Coronavirus has gone global is there.  The first death in the UK which has followed a nationwide shortage of hand sanitizer as the panic is spreading just as fast.

Hand Gel

Public Health directors recommend when you cannot use a sink, soap and water, that you sanitise your hands while out and about in public especially after touching surfaces that are multi - contact such as lift buttons or hand rails on trains, etc.

Masks

Having seen 1 or 2 people wearing the masks in the UK the Public Health directors say only if you’re ill coughing or sneezing, should a mask be worn in public.

Good old fashioned, common sense is the answer to halting the transmission of the virus - hand washing for 20 seconds after going to the toilet, before eating and after doing particularly dirty activities.   If your hands are socially clean and you’re not near a sink, use hand gel.   Cover up your cough or sneeze, use a disposable tissue, not your sleeve.

Re-useable Coffee Cups

Starbucks have a temporary ban on bringing your own re-useable coffee cup in an effort to halt the virus transmission and as a precaution, as well as other sanitising methods, but apart from stopping us bringing our own cups, it’s service as usual.

Shopping Malls

Shopping centres have added Purell hand sanitizer dispensers in areas such as entrances and by the cash points.  Money has changed many hands and could be a route of transmission.

There is no need to self isolate or close schools unless a high number of people exhibit symptoms in one place at the same time.  A few extra hygiene practices, but some things we should be doing outbreak or no outbreak!

I have always taken these precautions. I work in a hospital and always realized the importance of all of the above. I never wanted to bring anything home to my family and pride myself on rarely ever getting sick despite working with sick people. It's funny that it takes this virus to make people start doing things they should have always been doing. It seems to be common sense. It seems that everyone who has passed from the corna virus has been those with underlying health conditions. I have a good immune system but my father and aunt have COPD and my mother also has breathing issues so I would worry about them. I am from Montreal Canada and the virus has just recently made it there. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy and follows hand hygiene all the time to prevent germs from spreading.

Definitely going Global

I had ordered something of Wish.com awhile ago. My order was cancelled due to the Coronavirus. So they're definitely taking precautions, which we should to.

Not too worried

I’m not too worried about it. The only worry I have is the amount of people that never used to wash their hands

Remember folks, soap and water is better than hand sanitizer and should be used if possible! Wash for at least 20 seconds.

Yeah, I'm just going to make my coffee/tea at home until they reinstate the reusable cups at coffee places. And I'll probably avoid Bulk Barn until they do too.

Now that social distancing is widely being encouraged.. definitely stay away from others.. stay home if possible! I find myself washing my hands much more frequently and sanitizing every time I come in contact with public surfaces.

Coronavirus Precautions

I am staying home and only going grocery shopping when needed. When shopping keep a distance between shoppers and wear throw away surgical gloves or cheap cloth gloves you can wash. The only people who should be wearing masks are the people who have the virus. Wash hands often, keep hydrated and take vitamins, herbals and immune system supplements. If you cough cover your mouth, I carry a hanky in my pocket or old washcloths that I can wash.

I'm lucky to have a job where I'm able to work from home and my company has asked for employees to work from home indefinitely to help stop the spread. It sucks that this week is FINALLY warm and sunny and that it's too risky to go out and enjoy it but hopefully with many people staying home the overall impact of the virus isnt as bad
