This past Saturday at 8:30 was the 5th annual Earth Hour. One hour a year where people around the world turn off their lights/electronics and join a collaborative effort to save energy.
Did you celebrate Earth Hour this year? Were you out anywhere that they turned off the lights?

Shoot - I totally forgot about this! I live in an area where most people don't give two hoots about the environment (sad, I know), so it was not publicized at all. However, we as a family do try to do our part to be as eco friendly as possible - recycling, composting, buying local, energy star appliances, CFL bulbs in the house, etc etc.

I had every intention of doing this but both the man and I forgot as we were busily packing/watching TV at the same time. In fact both in separate rooms. Total energy waste. Major oops!

It's funny I had every intention of celebrating Earth Hour - even set it up on my BB but for some reason it totally slipped my mind and I believe I had the lights on and the tv on. I know I know very bad. Has this lost some steam over the years?

It was the first year I actually DID remember it was Earth Hour. I wasn't sure how I was going to spend my hour by I ended up grabbing coffee with my best friend. It was kind of cool being in Starbucks while all of the lights were off (they kept the bar lights on so they could still make drinks).
I think the purpose of Earth Hour is to spread the message of conservation and being more environmentally conscience. As long as you do a little through the year It's not so bad your forgot :)
