I'm from Europe, and this day is extremely important in my culture. It is the day where women are celebrated! So, just wanted to say Happy International Women's day to all the lovely ladies out there, and all the ChickAdvisor Chicks!
Hope it's a fantastic day for all-- cause we deserve it :)

Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench (off camera) participated in this sobering video in honour of International Women's Day. It raises some interesting points!

I actually love studying gender issues--and I studied it a bit in my undergrad. This video really is very sobering- as you described it, and a lot to think about, and it is sad to think that in 2011, we are still not treated equally, but it is just masked better than it had been.

The site you posted is a great source that explains about the origins of women's day and how it is celebrated around the world.
Where I'm from, it is a national holiday for women. They are given flowers by all the men in their lives- including co-workers, children, partners etc.
