I think the government would be smart to legalize it.
There are so many people out there that do abuse the mary jane but
think about the tax money! It would be more controlled and hopefully
it would prevent the product from being laced with other drugs.
I think it would be a win win for everyone!
Definitely a more natural treatment than all the pharmaceutical drugs
out there.

I agree the money the government would make off of taxes alone would probably help Canada get back into a surplus. It's probably one of the biggest ways to turn a profit. I mean each plant can turn a profit of roughly $1000 at $10 a gram, then if you add tax to it...

Honestly for medical reasons i say sure. This is a natural plant based product. Narcotics for pain can be very hard on a person. Medical marajuana is a far mor healthy option.

Marijuana is a drug that exhibits different behaviour, personality changes, etc.It is a drug period. It is NOT required for medical purposes, there are doctors that can prescribe for what ails you. Also, to answer jcb75 yes alcohol can be a problem for some and does cause problems sometimes. However, why add another match to the fire? Mj is used as an excuse for some as far as using it for pain etc. Anyways, this can be a sensitive topic for some as is politics, religion etc.

While you may think that 'MJ is used as an excuse for some for pain' and that 'it is NOT required for medical purposes', there are actually peer reviewed scientific studies that have been done to refute that. Of course some people DO abuse it but some people really and truly do find pain relief for it, so why should we deny them that? Doesn't matter if it's a sensitive issue, it is a real issue in our society. Morphine comes from heroine, yet is a completely valid option for pain for certain medical issues. We shouldn't say things have no medical value if we are not informed about them.

I'm sorry, but I agree with the above poster. You simply cannot play ignorant to the reliance, abuse, and dependence of existing legal drugs to shame the medical uses of marijuana - it is hypocritical!

"Why add another match to the fire?" What fire is it that you are pertaining to? The war on drugs? How about we discuss the war against addiction. Addiction to legal and available substances and drugs like, say, Oxycontin. We call these people criminals after we "heal what ails them" with these drugs, and get them addicted and reliant, then cut them off. We label addiction, caused by LEGAL MEDICINAL SUBSTANCES, as criminal behavior.

Open your mind, dollysgramma. Perhaps your age, your upbringing, your beliefs causes you to have a negative view of marijuana, and so be it. That's fine. Not everybody has to agree with it for any purposes, and that's okay. But don't be a hypocrite and praise other drugs used by pharmaceutical and medical companies. Health is lesser than profit in their eyes.

And most drugs used to heal us nowadays both cause harmful afteraffects, and can "change personality" like you are so afraid "MJ" does.

To each is their own..

But I definitely think that if the government were to tax it we would get out of debt as a country a lot faster.
