Microwaving Tim Hortons' Cups

I've been microwaving my Tim Hortons' drinks (tea) for years now when they go cold and I have never had an issue. I usually do it for about a minute without any issues. Today though, I did it for 30 seconds only and I started to smell something burning! The microwave burnt the bottom of my cup! It was all black, and it smelt like it was indeed burning. They did just change their cups to that darker red ink colour - do you think that could be it?

Has anyone microwaved their drinks from Tim Hortons?

Nuking Tim's cups

I've never had an issue...but noticed about a year ago they added a warning on the cup not to microwave.

They changed the cups. Now it says right on them 'do not microwave'.

Tim's Cup

Good to know! I always warm mine, as well. Maybe not anymore with these new cups ;)

I had issues with it in the past as well - don't microwave paper!

I guess no more...

Thanks for your comments! I guess I'm not the only one that has had this problem. Well...I guess I can't be doing that anymore! :(

I actually noticed that problem a long time ago, so now whenever I want to warm up my Timmies I pour it into a mug and warm it up that way!

Change of Cups

I noticed a few years ago that I was no longer able to reheat my cup - even after 30 seconds it would burn the bottom of the cup, hence the coffee :(

It just doesn't taste the same out of a mug!

I usually don't have an issue in my own microwave but in my boyfriends microwave its a different story.
