Use them all the time even at places that don't charge for bags or paper. Helps end environment and recycling

The ones I place my meats in get messy. I usually wipe them out with Lysol wipes. It does help the environment but does seem slightly unhygienic.

I always use reusable grocery bags. I am not a huge fan of bagging my own groceries.

Meh - My meat doesn't leak, my bags are reusable (usually fabric), and we're all good.

I use cotton bags that can easily be washed. The cashiers always put meats in their own small separate bags before putting them in.

I should probably bring plastic bags to wrap my meat since where I shop we need to bag our own groceries. Theres only a few cashier's that wrap the meat. But either way you still need to wash your bags. @crystal, I should definitely get all fabric bags so I can just throw them in the wash.

Wash your bags

Like previous posters, use fabric bags that are washing machine safe to store your meat in for transportation. Putting the meat in a seperate plastic bag defeats the purpose of using reusable bags and reducing plastic consumption.

I am always concerned about contamination, so generally buy bags. They do get recycled though, as I use them as trash bags...perfect size for our apartment garbage chute, and I haven't had to buy a bag in years.

Reusable Bags

I never use those supermarket Bags.hey are made out of recycle Material and half the time the strings break on them.I purchased some insulated Grocery Bags to use. This way I'm not adding to the landfill with Plastic Bags. The ones I use,I purchased at the Market and I must say are very strong. The material must be good in them also because I put three Bags of Sugar in one and, the material never even stretched, just stayed in shape. As for the insulated ones, they're great for meats ad if it is really hot outside,I use a Ice Pack in them.
