First date after shattering heartbreak! ladies....HELP

on Aug 28, 2011 @ 11:55 pm

okay so i am going on a first date. i havent been on a first date in years due to the fact that i was in a serious relationship . that relationship ended in miserable heartbreak which i have already posted on here. im still extremely hurt by what my ex did to me but i know i am strong and i need to get out there. i am okay if this doesn't go past the first date i just feel insecure because of how my ex hurt me. i want to look HOT. lol. im wearing leggings with "rider" type flat boots. i just don't know where to get a cute bohemian type top that will cover my butt in leggings and still look cute. does anyone have any advice? i only have about 4 or 5 days to find somethingthat isn't expensive but makes me feel thinner and look good. im in college so my funds are limited, plus i just moved.

any first date tips and places to find cute things?

i appreciate your help. i have a mix of emotions and i am SO NERVOUS.

Victoria's Secret on Aug 29, 2011 @ 01:00 am

Congrats on the first date! I'm not sure where you are located but Victoria's Secret has some really great tunics. Here's a couple I think would be great for a date and the website to view their entire selection.;i=1;q=tunics

If you are a college student.. on Aug 29, 2011 @ 09:16 am

I have never gotten wrong with pieces from Forever 21. Hopefully there is one near you.

If you budget is between $20- $30 for a tunic, then I suggest:;=

For under $20, I suggest:

In my experience, guys really like flirty, girly tops! I think whatever you wear will be fine though :).

If you want some more tips, there's an article that ChickAdvisor posted a while back, I'll link you right here

Have a great first date!!! :)! (Don't order anything with too much garlic! ;) )

excellent tips!! on Aug 29, 2011 @ 10:12 am

I just read through the link jskim07 posted for the Ten Beauty Tips for the First Date and although the article was written 4years ago, it's still very much applicable today!

Forever21 as jskim07 mentioned and H&M;both have very cheap and chic tunics. Have fun :-)

Flirty look is best on Aug 29, 2011 @ 11:38 am

All the tops suggested are fantastic! I personally love the black one from Victoria's Secret, it is so sexy and stylish. However, for a first date, I think fun and flirty is best. Guys can't resist cute/flirty looks. I'd play up my eyes, wear a peachy-nude kind of lip gloss, and wear just the outfit you're planning. You'll knock his socks off! Have fun and try not to be too nervous :)

Skinny Jeans! on Aug 29, 2011 @ 11:55 am

Go with skinny jeans instead of leggings!

I love leggings but I think when you beautify your outside and really make an effort, your inside always feels better too. Therefore- I recommend skinny jeans. They are more formal and show that you didn't just throw on exercise clothes, plus a good pair of skinny jeans does wonders for your butt!

As for your top, go with a solid colour. This will depend on your skin tone but red looks good on almost anyone and for some reason, boys love it. If you go with skinny jeans, you can also forgo the long top. I love tunics but they make your legs looks shorter because you make your torso longer and you often take away your curves.

Also- while this tip may not work for everyone, heels are a must. Try wedges for a more comfy option. Heels not only elongate your legs and make you taller but when you walk in heels the extra height will give you confidence. Nothing is hotter than confidence! Heels will make your calve muscles work as well, making sure that you look slim.

Figure flattering is always the best option, make sure you highlight your best assets!!!!

Have a great date! on Sep 02, 2011 @ 06:09 am

There have been a lot of great suggestions on what to wear. I was thinking the same thing as jskim07 about Forever21. Don't be too nervous about your date. Keep in mind he is probably just as nervous as you! Have a great time and let us know how it goes!

I cancelled the date. :/ I had a bad gut feeling. The guy was clingy and demanding before we had even been on one date! I politely cancelled letting him know ahead of time. He immediately started sending me texts all day-all night saying how it is my loss over and over. Clearly my instinct was correct. Feeling creeped out isn't a good start to a date. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I hope this year turns around soon!

Thank you for your advice though! Great thoughts and ideas. I actually had found a top at White/Black <---- I think that is what the stores name is.

I'm living in Austin, Texas btw. I had checked out a variety of spots but I am still new to the area and trying to find places.
