He makes me sick - literally

LaurenBlair

The phrase "what's mine is yours" is ringing in my head right now. I made the decision to spend the weekend with my very sick boyfriend and now I can feel the consequences from that decision creeping in... slowly...
I can feel my head getting heavy
I can feel my nose getting stuffy
I can feel my through getting dry, and red
I can see the whites of my eyes getting a little grey
and I can count my coughs becoming more frequent.

I hate that feeling of knowing you're going to get sick, but you just aren't yet. Especially already knowing what the progression of the sickness will be. Ugh.

What do you do when you’re sick? Watch movies? Read books? Sleep?
What's your best remedy for a sore throat?

Um....

... and you are sitting here the office typing this? Frequent hand washing and avoiding the boss at all costs are in order, Missy!

Hope you feel better :)

fresh pressed juice with ginger and chicken soup

When I get sick, I usually get some fresh pressed juice with orange, carrot, and ginger

I also have chicken soup and a ton of it....

As soon as I feel something coming on, I book an appointment with my naturopath (who gives me a vitamin C treatment). I find these treatments VERY effective! I usually feel better in a couple of hours :)

I also take zinc lozenges, and oil of oregano on a pretty regular basis.

Feel better!

..

I'm with Meredith on the Vitamin C. If I feel a sickness coming on, I eat lots of fruit - especially oranges. I also drink camomile tea and SLEEP LOTS. And probably catch up on daytime TV shows - a full day of the Slice Network usually cures me! hehe

Meredith: Does zinc help ward off a cold?

Another idea

Alex's family swears by eucalyptus in hot water in a bowl, then you put your head over the bowl and a towel over your head and let the steam clear your sinuses. It does work but there is also the unfortunate side effect of snot running down your face if you're at the congested stage.

Cold Fx

I have found that Cold Fx does help, if you take it when you first feel yourself getting sick. It's expensive, so I try to buy it when I see it on sale for when I'll need it!

Hopefully your boyfriend is well enough to take care of you if you get sick!

Feel better!

@ali - I'm going to try that when I get back home tonight
@patricia - unfortunately we are in different cities, but he did a brilliant job of taking care of me when I was bed ridden in the summer. I'm going to look for the Cold Fx
