Honeymoon suggestions, please!

on Jul 01, 2014 @ 03:32 am

Hey ladies!

I'm getting married on November 22.  We are trying to plan a big trip to Thailand, etc next year, but would like to take a quick honeymoon trip right after our wedding.  Probably somewhere a little less exotic (and expensive!).

We are thinking about Austin, TX, or Niagra Falls.  Any thoughts or other suggestions??

We went to the Bahamas (Paradise Island) on our Honeymoon. We stayed at the RIU because it was the only all inclusive spot on the island. The wonderful thing about the Bahamas is that you can go for 3 or 4 days. You don't have to commit to a whole week. It's perfect for a quick pick me up. The island is beautiful, the Caribbean water is absolutely gorgeous and you can usually get some good deals at this resort. If you mention that it's your honeymoon, there's a chance that your room will get upgraded. We had a junior suite and only booked a regular room. The restaurants are good too. They have a smallish pool, but you're right next door to the Atlantic Resort - the famous hotel where all the money stays. Rob and Amber from Survivor got married there. The Atlantis have an amazing waterpark and a great casino. You don't need to leave the resort if you don't want to. I'd go again :) Hope this helps :)

oh and congratulations! :)

Congrats! on Jul 03, 2014 @ 04:24 am

Congrats first of all! I spent a really romantic weekend at Niagra Falls. You can find some really nice hotel packages and the falls at night is gorgeous. If you want to go a little farther I would really suggest checking out packages online. You can usually find a nice getaway all included to the Bahamas or Caymen Islands. I've heard the resorts in Mexico are really nice too :)

Love the falls! on Aug 24, 2014 @ 01:10 am

If you've never been to Niagra Falls, definitely consider it. It's beautiful! At night it becomes even nicer if you can believe that! There's tons to check out and see in the area too. Congratulations!!!!

The Falls are amazing! on Aug 25, 2014 @ 08:15 pm

Congratulations! My hubby and I have been to Niagara falls many times, just for a getaway. We do different things each time we go. It's very beautiful, and very romantic. So, much to do there! They have package deals as well. Good luck!

Niagara Falls on Aug 26, 2014 @ 12:59 am

Niagara Falls is a great destination, there is a lot to do there and the strip has a lot of things to kill some time. It is also such a bonus being close to the border because you can go shopping in Buffalo after :) !

Keep a look out on Groupon or Team Buy they usually have some great package deals and its a great way to get a stay and go to a winery.

Oh man not Austin! What's romantic about that city. Nothing I could see. The falls are not only so incredibly beautiful but so romantic.

I loved it, much less commercialized than Bahamas. We stayed at the st James on our Babymoon and we were never solicited for anything, unlike in Nassau. The locals are genuinely friendly and the beaches cannot be beat. Mostly British and Australian tourists.

Mexican Rivera on Sep 03, 2014 @ 11:13 am

We went to the Mexican Rivera for our honeymoon. It was in October so it was the off season and super cheap. We went to an all inclusive resort and were given the presidential suite which was amazing. Because we were there in the off season they really went out of their way to make our experience amazing by bringing us champagne every night and putting rose petals in our outdoor jacuzzi. We had a blast and felt like kings and it cost very little.

I vote the falls. Its beautiful on both the States and the Canadian Side. My hubby and I went there to celebrate our 1 year anniversary in February. It was beautiful even in the winter time. Groupon has some great deals for hotel packages and there is lots to do. You are close enough that you could come visit Canada as well! There are neat musems on our side, I haven't been exploring on the state side so I'm not sure what you guys have over there.

Very romantic and cost effective for a great couple of days!
