Urgent Intimacy Question!!

Anonymous

I was wondering if I could get some opinions, I am on birth control but have been on antibiotics for about a week for tonsilitis. I finished the antibiotics last night. I also stopped taking the birth control three days ago (for the 7 days off to get my period). Do you think it would be safe to have sex at this point? It's been 3 days since I've taken the birth control and I'm expecting my period in about 2-3 days.

Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Honestly as long as you are using other methods of birth control i think youll be fine but make sure you are still using condoms or pulling out unless you want a baby lol

second method of birth control

If you have been on antibiotics recently, you should use condoms. Antibiotics interact negatively with birth control pills making them less effective. You should wait at least a few weeks before going back to relying only on birth control pills.

If you are expecting to have your period in 2-3 days, that means you won't ovulate for about 14 days after you're done your period. Sperms can only live in your reproductive system for about 5 days. Think you're fine.

Call your doctor or pharmacist! Some antibiotics will affect it's efficacy and some won't. Your pharmacist should have said something when you got out your prescription if there was a negative interaction.

I would probably use a condom for about a week or so just to be on the safe side
