Social Athlete 181

I need some help, especially since its getting so close to xmas now! she's a bit of a fashion addict, accesories, etc. into vogue mags and all that, she's a 12-13 yr old. she also is into sports, and ...i guess thats it.

totally stumped here, any help/ suggestions would be helpful!

it's not an especially intimate, sisterly, overly-thoughtful gift, but i'd go with a Visa gift card. that way she's not tied to a particular store. i reason that it's better than cash because it has the word 'gift' in the name of the product itself. that's how i delude myself into believing i'm being selfless or something. plus a 12 or 13 year-old would probably think she's just received a credit card, and i don't know about you but when I was that old I would've thought that was the COOLEST.

mac? :)

how about find out what beauty product she's really into and get her a mac version of that? we all know mac is the best out there hehe :) so introduce the kid to it!

and if you're looking for a more sporty gift, find out what she needs? maybe her kleats are worn and needs a replacement? if so you can give her that as a gift.

I think Steve's visa gift card idea is great too! my first instinct was to write - mac gift card or sephora gift card!! :)

ok, those are some great ideas, maybe put together a little makeup kit for her? a few essentials plus a little clutch bag or something?

the gift cards are good ideas, i just dont find them too personal.

2 gifts

Combining the b-day and x'mas gifts would give her a bigger present... But from everyone I know who has X'mas and b-day close together, they all say it kinda sucks b/c you usaully end up with only one gift, one celebration.

I like the Visa card idea. I find gift cards unpersonal too but the advantage is that your sister can get whatever she wants. How about a cute little purse (go to the mall and see what brand/style teens like these days)? If you want to buy her gifts (the MAC idea is great too!), make sure you get a gift receipt so she can exchange the items if she doesn't like them.

If you want to combine the x'mas/b-day gift, you can get her both a gift plus a Visa gift card! :)

combining gifts

I agree with Bubblybunny and her thoughts on combining gifts. My sister's bday is today and she never liked it growing up when people combined her bday and Christmas gifts...unless like bubblybunny said, she was getting something bigger...

Having said that....everyone above had great gift ideas! :o)
