I'm confused as to how some of the badges are earned. The Deal Queen I know doesn't exist anymore since they took away the deal forum. But I noticed I recently got points in the Shopping badge category, and I have no idea how. Same with the Cheerleader badge. And for the Top Commenter badge, I don't see any progression towards that badge, so how do you get it?

Shopping badge progress is earned anytime you review something in the Shopping category. This includes things like electronics, books, shoes, clothing, and more.
Cheerleader badge is earned by commenting in the forum, either by participating on an existing thread or starting a new one.
Top Commenter badge is earned by commenting on articles.
Hope that helps!

Thanks. I figured out the Shopping badge and the Top Commenter shortly after posting this, but the cheerleader one still confused me since I didn't notice it going up after anything I did, even with commenting in forums. I guess it did, I just didn't see it. Thanks for taking the time to explain :)

How many points are needed to get from one 'level' to the next? Also other than 'shopping' which is self-evident, I don't know what the symbols mean for the categories you gain points in. The 'about' section doesn't have a listing of what the leaf is, or the glasses, etc. I'm sure it was listed somewhere... but it's not easily found.
I looked at badges yesterday (I don't pay attention
normally - because they are so random) and I could swear that I went down in a category from months
ago. Not that it matters, but was there a re-evaluation of how many points are needed for escalation of each level?
Does anyone know?

@TashaCat: no, we did not reset the number of points needed to achieve each level. Do you remember which category you believe you may have been reduced under? We will look into any possible errors if you can point us in the right direction.

You are so sweet to offer to check it out. I think it was the one with the glasses. But I can't be sure. Honestly, I'm not stressed about it at all ... please don't even consider spending time on it. No biggie one way or another. I just don't really understand how it all works.

I know what you mean about being confused, when I first started I didn't understand any of them and there's absolutely no information about them. And I find it very weird that they still have badges for things that they took down quite a while ago, like the Deal Queen badge.
If you hover over the little pink circle thing next to the picture of the badge it'll show you how many points you have and what's left until the next level.
Glasses - post any reviews in the Beauty section and you earn points in this category
Wine Glass - post reviews in Food & Drink to earn this badge
Woman & Baby - post reviews in Mom & Baby to earn this badge
Leaf - post reviews in Wellness category
Shopping bag - post reviews under the Shopping category (this one is tough because there are a lot of items I've seen posted under wellness that I really think should be under shopping. But there's absolutely no moderation when it comes to the different categories or posting pictures that don't feature the product themselves).
Blue heart badge is for commenting on blog posts.
Megaphone cheerleader badge is for posting in forum/community.
Yellow star pencil is after you have 50 reviews posted I think. I'm pretty sure I noticed I got it shortly after I hit the 50 mark.
Hope this helps.

@glumbumble - Thanks it really helped. I had no idea about the pink circle thing! And don't laugh but I just didn't take time to hover over any of the icons to gain the info I needed! I think I knew what the categories were at one time, but I didn't remember.
You are right about the categories - it's strange how some things are categorized, but that depends a lot on the person who first lists the product. If they are careless, there can be multiple listings of the same thing, or an incorrect listing, or a badly categorized item.
you're welcome on Dec 07, 2014 @ 10:52 am
You're welcome. I hovered over everything when I was trying to figure out what everything was about, and even then that doesn't give all the answers.
I think there really should be an edit button so you can change a misspelling in the title itself, arrange the photos so the one of the product actually appears first (I find this a big problem in cosmetic stuff especially, you'll see a thumbnail of someone's eyeball instead of a picture of the product itself which makes for easier browsing). Or change the category an item is in (like I saw a vacuum and a humidifier in the wellness section, when I think that should be in the shopping section). And then once edited, it would go to the staff to double check before approving it to be posted again. I also think the 'shopping' category should be broken down completely into a bunch of other categories. There's just too many different sub categories under it and it's too easy to leave it to opinion, rather than fact of where something should go.
Great idea! on Dec 07, 2014 @ 11:03 am
That's a great idea of an 'improve the listing' button. That way, consciencious chicks could flag a review for staff to look at and edit, change categories, or combine two listings into one. Being able to flag something in the moment you see it is good... I think I saw a review yesterday that was just someone's comment - not even a review of a real product. Mistakes happen... it's how it's fixed that matters
Thanks again for letting me know about hovering over the icons to learn more about the badges... seriously that was a revelation. Maybe it's just me, but it was not intuitive that I should do that!
flagging on Dec 07, 2014 @ 11:27 am
Flagging would be good too. I figured though with an edit button at least someone could do the improvement and send it to the staff, which would at least half the extra work they have to do.
I wonder if that was the same 'review' I saw. I think I saw one in the food category and it was for some food product I think that they couldn't find or something. It was weird and totally didn't belong.
You're welcome. I'm sure other people had the same questions, just not everyone bothers to ask.
