My husband and I are planning a week away in the new year and are thinking of going to a resort.

Any suggestions on the best place to go. Something all exclusive.

My husband and I went to grand palladium white sands mayan riviera in mexico for our honeymoon and the resort is beautiful , the food is delicious ( lots of a la carte) , the staff is very friendly we also did two tours . One of my friend also went there with her boyfriend and she also loved it ! Well worth the money.

We also went to Dominican Republic and honestly it was nothing compare to our honeymoon . The only thing we liked there was the beach.

I would go back to Mexico tomorrow lol

Mayan! on Sep 29, 2015 @ 06:51 pm

I'm also for the Mayan Riviera - but stay so you can walk into Playa Del Carmen (the main town).

We stayed at the Wyndham Maya and it was pretty good - not overly busy, we didn't have to wait in line too much at the buffets, the beach was superb, and the service was great.

We even met a few fun couples ;)

We're aiming for a 5* hotel in the same area again next year. I think there's about 15-20 resorts in that little area to choose from.

We went with my inlaws to a resort about 20-30 minute drive from Playa Del Carmen and felt trapped, as you NEEDED a vehicle to leave to resort - you're right off the highway otherwise. So we weren't as spoiled as we were on our honeymoon with respect to free moving off the resort.

I wouldn't recommend Cuba. The food was subpar (as everyone says), the cities were ok Veradero was quite poor and we didn't feel safe there at all) - even our travelling friend went on her own excursion with her boyfriend and did NOT enjoy their stay there at all. She barely talks about it - and she normally raves about her adventures throughout the world.

5 Star Adult Only on Sep 29, 2015 @ 09:16 pm

I've taken to going to Adult only all-inclusive. The Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun is a great choice. It's a great hotel and if you're a beach goer the beach is gorgeous.

I found the price to be reasonable for a week away so take a look--- heres a trip advisor link: http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g150812-d286722-Reviews-Secrets_Capri_Riviera_Cancun-Playa_del_Carmen_Yucatan_Peninsula.html

I'd recommend ANY of the Secrets resorts.

5 star Ghana resort on the beach on Nov 05, 2015 @ 04:41 pm

Honeymoon was at a 5 star probably (3.5) on the beach in Accra, Ghana can't remember the name but it was pretty long and I think it's the only 5 star in Accra. Really nice place and people. We had a wonderful time. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and the sunset something else. Am following this for tips too.
