Soap Operas??

Do you watch any?  Did any cancellations make you cry?

I've watched Days for over 30 years, since I was 8 years old.  Patch and Kayla were my favourite super couple. (I could probably talk about Days of Our Lives all day LOL!) I'm super excited about the 50 anniversary coming up in November...especially Bo, Patch and Sami coming back.

I loved Another World and As The World Turns as well.

I think the only soap opera I had ever watched was Passions, I was pretty upset when it was dropped from it's network

I enjoyed Passions too, gl0ss...it was campy fun! A lot of Passions actors went to Days after it was cancelled. Luis and Ethan (who are still there) and Theresa (who's Days character died a couple years ago)

I have many, many memories of watching General Hospital with my gram and her older sister. I haven't watched any other soaps, especially since my gram passed away 9 years ago. Just not the same!

oh my how i love Coronation Street its the very best soap out there.. in my opinion!!! next would be Eastenders!!!

I'm a Soap Opera Junkie!

I LOVE MY SOAPS!!
I watched many of them since day one.. and I really HATE the networks for canceling the best shows on tv!! I think that General Hospital will be the next one to be canceled since they have HORRIBLE writers that don't have a clue about writing since all they do is repeat, repeat repeat.... I'm ready to throw in the towel and stop watching the stupidness!! I'd so love if they'd bring back As The World Turns and One Life To Live!!!!!!

I use to watch General Hospital years ago when Luke & Laura were so popular, but quit. The story lines just got so twisted, I quit watching. I read that Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) has decided to call it quits after all these years. He loves to live in Amsterdam part of the year and has decided he wants to finally retire and be in that city more. Ginger

I used to watch Young & The Restless and General Hospital years ago but I just really got tired of them it seamed like the same story lines over and over again. So with working and just being too busy I just lost interest in them. But sorry jcb75 that your shows were cancelled on you. Happy Tuesday jcb75 !!!

I'm a hardcore Days fan as well! I can't wait for the 50th anniversary either and have been enjoying their little flashbacks over the past few months. I hope Patch and Bo will be there on a more permanent basis. The show needs a little boost of nostalgia, especially since they've introduced so many young/new characters.

I also watch Y&R and loved Another World when it was on the air. GH was on and off for me back in my high school days and I lost track of it since then. I started a similar thread about soaps in the forum a while back so it's nice to see that someone shares the same interests!

Still watch GH!

My Nonna loved watching soaps and I watched them with her. I've seen many storylines in different soaps over the years. I grew up watching soaps and they meant different things at different times in my life. Sad to see entertaining shows take their final curtain call.

People comment on how soap opera actors/actresses don't have talent but I'd like to see them learn 100 pages of dialogue including your fellow actors lines and go in to work every day. Movie actors have months to shoot a movie, soap actors shoot live every day. They forget that many movie stars got their break in soap operas. Nice to see that these soaps create a family atmosphere and must be why so many actors/actresses remain for years.

I enjoy being able to watch every day and not have to wait a week to see what happens. They do drag it on to make you come back but they still have the ability to catch you by surprise once in awhile which gets challenging to do when you're a seasoned soap opera viewer.

GH - JaSam (Steve Burton as Jason)/Detective Nathan West

DAYS - Bope/Ejami

ATWT - CarJack (so happy that Maura West is on GH)

GL - Bud and Reva (could Kim Zimmer ever cry on cue)

Other entertaining storylines come to mind from AMC and Passions. I think I've seen a bit of every soap since the early 90s and probably saw more but I was too young to know what was going on.

Anthony Geary did decide to finally retire to his beloved Amsterdam. Since his back surgery lastApril he has been re-evaluating his life and said that he did not want to drop dead on the GH set. It's time to say goodbye to Luke. I wish him well.

Great memories spending time with my Nonna!
