Why top of the line designers are generally men?

I was watching Project Runway Canada last night. One thing that trickle through my mind is, seemingly most well-known designers are men. Correctly if i am wrong, but that seems to be the case, but why? Just want to hear what you gals think.

no idea

I don't know why, but I've always wondered the same thing myself. Does kinda make sense to think about the way women's clothes are almost never made with a woman's body shape in mind, thus why women have such a difficult time finding clothes that fit though. rofl (Though in the guys' defense, the few things I've tried on from women designers don't really seem to fit all that much better either, but then I'm a very curvy woman...)

Okies, I'm new, and I don't know if people bash here but if they do, there might be some bashing. I think that even though women have been able to be more equal then men there are still things that hold us back. Fashion is really competitive and I have not met a lot of women who are assertive enough.

Or maybe most people just think gay guys do it best. Stereotypes are hard to lose.
