Christmas Trees

When do you usually take your tree down - right after Christmas, or do you leave it up through New Year's? Do you prefer real or artificial trees?

Ours usually comes down right after New Year's. My parents always have a real tree, but my husband and I opted for buying a nice artificial tree this year so we wouldn't have to give it as much attention.

I usually take mine down right after Christmas but this year my two year old loves the tree and lights so I will keep it up for a few more days. I prefer a real tree but the bristles are a pain so I just have a fake tree now.

After the epiphany

I usually take it down on January 5th - it's more of a tradition than anything else. In my grandma's days, the epiphany is when the 3 wise men reached baby Jesus, so they celebrated Christmas until then. My mom carried on the tradition, and now I do. I actually like the decorations around in to the New Year! Makes the house look more festive!

We have always had artificial trees and we take it down, along with all the other decorations, on Boxing Day. It feels nice to get rid of the clutter after the big mess of opening gifts on Christmas Day.
