Big calves solution?

make-up junkie

I've been so blessed with having naturally muscular calves (can you hear my sarcasm?) and no matter how much weight I lose my calves seem to get bigger and bigger. Since I don't drive I do A LOT of walking especially after work when I have to pick up my son and walk home which is a good 15-20 minutes. Anyone have any tips on how to slim down big calves? I want to fit into some knee high points this winter! lol

I'll take some!!

I'm so active and athletic and try like hell to get more muscular and defined calves ... to no avail. I guess we're not in agreement w/ our genetics.

spotty- wish I had your genetics! ;)
happywifehapplife and mizzrobin - ur right I will just have to accept it and I'm glad I'm not alone (but I doubt your calves are really as big as mine are! it's like I have scary man legs on a petite body!) :(

I am sure your calves aren't as big as mine! I will measure and let you know next time I see ya! hahahah! At least you have a petite frame to go with it!

Is it muscle or fat?

The only way I can think is to exercise - cardio and strength training focusing on your lower body. You should be able to burn away some of that fat and tone the muscles in your lower body.

definitely not fat

tigerlilly- my calves have always been easy to build muscle ever since I was a kid. if you touch my calves it's not soft and flabby but very solid. yah I think hardcore cardio and strength training will help tone but I don't want to make my calves more muscular...

Ok, I felt compelled to measure to see how big is big and how small is small.

I measured 6" down from my knee cap. Then from there I measured the
girth of my calf, non-flexed. Its 14". Sorry for the US
measurements. In metric try for 15 cm down from your knee cap. My
girth was 35.5 cm.

I know, I'm a dork! :-)

Oh, one more thing, b/c I am short (5'2") 6" seemed more or less the meatiest part of my calf.
