Fitness monitor / pedometer

Hey chicks,

I would like to ask some product recommendation for affordable Fitness monitor/pedometer like Fitbit? Maybe less than $100?
Or Fitbit is the best out there? I would like something that has an app that I can download too so I can track my progress.

Thank you!

My brother owns the one made by Garmin and loves it. He actually has an iWatch given to him but says the Garmin (fitbit) works a lot better for him. It's actually the first gadget thing that I see him owning, which has lasted over a year. (he buys every gadget there are in the market) Give him 2 months it becomes a pass me down to me. Like the iWatch. LOL

So I suggest you looking into the Garmin, I'm really confused by all these Fitbit brands and stuff so don't mind me. It's the one made by Garmin. I heard it from a few people that it's the best of it's kind. The only reason I remember it's Garmin is because he offered to buy me one before I started working out again so I could get my fitness level back on track. Hope that helps. :)

That is similar to the one he has. You could probably get them for around $100, just wait for a sale.

I am on my second FitBit. I now have the Charge 2 w/ Heart Rate Monitor. It is quite a bit more than the $100.00 you are looking for. But I love the ability to track my heart rate thoughout the day. I can track my activity, my sleep and my heart rate. I can challenge my friends with other FitBit products. It challenges myself. 10 minutes before the hour, it tells me how many steps I need to complete my goal. I love it!

They have all kind of fit bit styled watch's on amazon. I seen one come up in my email the other day that was 29.99$. I can't tell you if they are great or not but it said it measured heartrate, sleep, had a vibrating alarm and all kinds of things. I have personally never used them so I'm unsure.

I really want a product like this as well and was going to go with a Fitbit because I haven't really heard about any other similar products. I guess I'll have to research a bit more.

Check out amazon, they have tons.
I have a fitbit but they don't sadly last as long as I would have hoped - my fitbit zip died on me in a couple of years, and fitbit charge hr after little less than that - I contacted the customer service though and got a solid discount for the next one which was nice considering the device was not under warranty anymore - but I guess there was a known issue with the hardware for this one (it stopped syncing and upon reset it would completely freeze)
so having good technical support/customer service can make a difference too

I have heard very good things about Garmin but no direct experience

I have the fitbit charge hr and love it. Purchased it March 2016 and haven't had any issues with it. Side note- I really enjoy that you get badges for completing fitness goals with Fitbit and find it really motivating:)

I have the FitBit flex and love it.

I get a ton of motivation through it, we have challenges through work for goal days and weekly steps, nothing motivates me more than these competitions!!

I also like the sleep tracking on it, some mornings I feel like I haven't slept, I am able to view my sleep log and can see how many times I woke up or how many times I was restless. Oh and I have the App on my iphone so I am able to check my steps/challengers throughout the day.

Fitbit is also compatible with a number of other fitness/health apps such as My Fitness Pal and a few others.

They have a new feature which is called Adventures, I haven't used it yet but I hear that its maps of different areas such as "Central Park", where you can map your individual progress along their route virtually.

I highly recommend FitBit, I am looking at upgrading and purchasing the HR

Carrot Rewards & Argus apps

There's a newish app I downloaded recently that is sponsored by the Government of Canada, Ministry of Health and Scene. It's called Carrot Rewards. You hook it up with either your Fitbit or just your smartphone and it counts your steps. By doing short (7-10 question) health surveys you get Scene points and after two weeks of tracking your average step count, you will receive Scene points for meeting a set daily step goal. I think you can also hook up your Aeroplan rewards too.

I don't have a fitbit, but by using my phone i've already got over 400 Scene points from it. If you collect Scene points I'd highly recommend it! Super simple/quick way to get Scene points and I find myself walking around more to reach my daily goal!

I've also used the Argus app which is definitely more comprehensive! You can add in various exercising activities and your meals to track your health which I really like because I often do forms of fitness that most apps don't track (swimming, HITT training, yoga, etc). I just found it to be too much work for what I was looking for in the end, but it's still a great option.

Thank you very much ladies for all these wonderful recommendations.
I will check them all out. I know how awesome Fitbit is but sadly, it's a little too expensive for me. I have also found some awesome deals on Groupon.
They also sell Fitbit there and they give up to 8% discount which is still a bit out of my price range. I'll save up for it but in the meantime, i will look for something cheaper.
