Hypersensitive Hearing

I've always been the type of person to hear every single little noise. The smaller the noise, the more annoying. It has lead to my practice of sleeping with ear plugs. But since most people around me don't seem to be bothered by the same noises, I did some googling and found out that it might be an actual issue. It's called Hypersensitive Hearing and can be a result of several issues and it can be treated as well.

Has anyone ever been "diagnosed" with Hypersensitive hearing and received any treatments for it? And did the treatments help?

No i haven't

When I lie down to sleep I can hear every creak on the house, every noise outside and the smallest things wake me up, I blame having kids and always half listening for them.

I sleep with a fan on as the white noise drowns out all the other noises and allows me to get a great night sleep.

I've never been diagnosed but I probably should be. I just didn't know it was a real condition.

Son autism makes noise sentive to him.

My son was diagnosed with autism at 22 months, his 14 yrs old now and still he is so sentive to sound. His school had changed the bell styem, he told me it was so hard on his ears. He would stress out the night before of he new his school was performing a fire drill 😢. Break my heart. He can't stand spell of sugar drinks pop, juice. When he was younger he couldn't handle a can pop in room with him. I should make appointment with family doctor to see if he may suffer from Hypersensitive hearing, it's High school this year. If they open schools

I've never been diagnosed but i suspect i might have it. Like someone else mentioned i sleep with a fan on because every little noise wakes me up. I tried earplugs but i can hear myself breathing and that drives me nuts. I also have a hard time focusing on things if there is background noise like tv is on or someone is talking. I find it hard to be at gatherings because everyone is talking and i cant tune it out. My daughter had central auditory processing disorder when she was younger the drs said she no longer had it but i feel like she does or has some other issue going on.

I hate loud noises. Try to avoid crowds and cinemas too.

Sometimes a small issue can cause a serious health problem. I didn't have hypersensitive hearing, but I started experiencing ringing in my ear after the flu. Having addressed an audiologist and gone through professional ear wax removal, my tinnitus disappeared in several days. So, my advice is to visit a doctor, self-treatment can be harmful.
