Planning a Baby Shower

 My sister is expecting her 1st baby. we have found out its a Boy.   She has asked me to host her Baby Shower.  Im wondering if any of you have come across any great ideas, needing help with where to look. I have been out of the loop for years.  
   Id like to do a sports (hockey, football or golf ) theme .  I'm waiting until June to have it as shes due July 22.

Sports is cute for a boy. If you know your sisters favorite team you could do a personalized sports theme ( York to blue Jays, Montreal Canadians..Etc.) Then get a cake and invitations and decorations to match or make them yourself. You can get ideas like danaorgnero said on Pinterest. There's also Etsy and eBay. You can also google baby shower ideas. I'm not sure if you will have it catered or make your own things but google has everything. Some people have all ladies and some have both sexes. The only thing is lots of guys might feel uncomfortable coming to an event like that. Maybe ask your sister what she would prefer.

Also my friend printed out a few little questionnaire for all of us there to see who knew her best and it asked questions like when her birthday was, what she was going to name the baby, where she was having the baby, the name of her dog and other questions. The one that got the most answers right won a small gift. She also had another one where they passed around toilet paper and break of how many squares would fit around her belly. The closest won! Games are fun!

Baby Shower

I hosted for my son and his wife in Oct. We ended up having it at a restaurant for about 20 people for lunch because everyone lived in all directions! We had a choice of sandwich and side, a veggie tray and a fruit platter plus people could have alcohol if they wanted. We brought our own cupcakes and cookies in the colour scheme. I'm sure it would be less costly if you're hosting at your place. Their's and the last few showers I've been too were all couples/family/friends which is a great way for families to meet. I had a 'guess how many jelly beans' jar in the theme colours and a blessings jar that I asked the guests to write as a keepsake.Youtube has a lot of great shower ideas too! We had balloon centre pieces and table scatters in their colours (tiffany blue and white bows). For christmas gitfs etc., I still get something in their shower colours. Have fun!

I did my cousin's baby shower (also boy). I went to dollar store for decorations and some of the games. Michael's also have some good decorations and games. Just wait for their 50% off days.

Try to come up with at least 5 games. You could google the games for baby shower and there will be tons.

Then of course, invitation, cake, food but you could discuss that with your sister on what she wants there.

My mom and sister threw my baby shower and some of the games we played were:

guessing how many jelly beans in a jar

the clothespin game (everyone starts off with 1 clothespin and if you see anyone cross their legs throughout the night you get to take theirs, most pins at the end of the night gets a prize)

The ribbon game ( everyone gets to try and guess how big my belly was by selecting how much ribbon they thought it would take to wrap around my belly)

A word scramble list which are all baby related, everyone has a list of them and try to guess the right answers.

The bottle game ( where you fill baby bottles with juice, water, etc. we played in pairs where one person had sit on another's lap and had to drink all of the liquid out of their bottles, the fastest team get a prize.

Birth date, where who ever has a birthday closest to the babies due date gets a prize.

Or I've been to some where they had different tables for playing bingo or card games. There are so many different things to do at a baby shower.

Great advice ladies.. Im finding so many cute ideas.. Now I need to win the Lotto .. lol
I love the idea of people buying a book instead of a card and placing their names inside the book I seen it on Pinterest.

Oh yeah, if you are thinking of gifts, diaper cake is really cute. You could find ideas on how to make it on Pintrest! Very useful gift is what I hear from all the mother's to be.

I made one for my cousin and my husband's friend. I used the extra diapers to play the games. What we did was put stuff like peanut butter, jelly, nutella (anything that resembles poop) put it in the diapers and have people sniff or taste to guess what it is. It's super fun. We had a blast with that game.
