Any travel plans?

Any plans to travel anywhere over winter? Hubby and I are taking a trip to Costa Rica, and are pretty excited as we've never been before!

That sounds lovely, congrats! I'm not trying to be a downer on this thread, but christmas is actually really hard for me as I'd love to be with my family, but cannot afford to travel to Scotland (esp. at xmas). I haven't been home in about 6 years now, it's tough.

My mother in law has invited me to hers and I'm grateful, I really am, but she's having a big dinner with about 20 people (most of whom I barely know) and for me holidays are about playing games with my close family of five, who I cannot see. It's a rough time as I hate having to put on a mask at the holidays!

Please tell me more about your Costa Rica trip, maybe it will cheer me up!

That would be tough. I hope you get to go visit your family sometime soon! It's hard, especially around the holidays, but it sounds like you have a very nice mother-in-law. Hope you find some holiday cheer. :)

Planning on going to Liberia, and hopefully do some snorkelling, walk through a volcano, hot springs, and take a day trip to Nicaragua!

Thank you! I don't know that I'll ever be able to go at christmas, but maybe for my birthday 2020 (February) would be nice. My mother in law is very nice, things were tough with us at first, but they're really good now :)

Wow, that sounds incredible! Make sure to make the most of it and take a lot of pics. I always find myself wishing I'd taken more pics to remember the moments, but I get caught up in living them and regret not having that keepsake!

That would be nice to go for your birthday! Traveling around Christmas is always super expensive. Glad you get along so well with your mil. Mine relationship is hit and miss. She's kind of a narcissist and I have a hard time dealing with that so I need to keep the distance for my own peace of mind.

I always take lots of pics while on vacation! I don't want to miss anything because memories fade. I always make a photobook after we get back as well. Nice to flip through and remember.

I had such a tough relationship with mine at the beginning (she was having a bad time and passed it on to me), so I totally understand! These things do tend to mellow over time, but sometimes two people are just too different. I still wouldn't say we're super close, like with my mum, but that's cause I'm a big weirdo and it takes me a long time to feel comfortable enough to be that open. Also her family is pretty WASPy and so she struggles to project warmth in the way my own mum does!

That's a lovely idea, I'm going to steal that photobook idea for my next vacation.

Nah, no plans here. We'll, not for me and hubby anyways. I think my daughters are going on a cruise with their grandparents..

We went to Costa Rica & loved it, be sure to do excursions checking out the wildlife.
We're going to Dubai for the March break, so if anyone has been & has any tips, that would be welcome.

This Summer

I just found out that I've been accepted into a film course in Ireland this summer! I'll be studying national Irish cinema for the month of August and earning a full-year university credit. I'm super excited!!
