Ok Deoderant
I got this free to try from ChickAdvisor. I like how the deodorant goes on (it is smooth and not thick like others). I find it doesn't last all day though. The scent is good but I did not find it very effective and would not purchase it.
Not for me
I was excited to try this product, and couldn't wait for it to arrive. When I tried it for the first time, I loved the scent and how easy it glided on the skin, like silk! However, that's all I can say good about this deodorant. Within a few hours I could smell my own underarm odor, and of course it's not pleasant. I had the deodorant in my purse in case I had to give it a second swipe, good thing I did. I tried it again another day, to give it the benefit of the doubt, and same thing. For me, it only worked for about 2 hours to mask the scent. Granted it is summer, but I was inside during this time, not sitting outside in the sun. To be totally honest, I would not recommend this product, as it did not work for me.
New favourite
I really like the smell and feel of this deodorant. I got to try it as a free product and I love it. I've never liked dove deodorant before so i was surprised how well this one worked and lasted. This is now my number one choice of deodorant
Worked well enough
I was so excited to try this because I switched to natural deoderant over 2 years ago and the stuff that works for me is expensive. The dove 0% aluminum deodorant in green tea and mint scent is OK. It works on the days I'm not doing much, but doesn't hold a candle to the days I'm actually sweating. Son of you have a desk job or a sedentary lifestyle this would work perfectly.
Doesn't Cut It For Me
This deodorant smells really nice and feels good on my skin. It applies smoothly and doesn't leave residue behind. For all it's good points though, it just didn't work well enough for me. After a few hours on hot days I felt like I needed to wash up and reapply. Even on days that weren't hot, I didn't feel like I smelled fresh by late afternoon.
Was Not Up To my standards
I am not a big fan of Dove products in the first place. This was what I expected. I do not like this scent whatsoever for one but the burning sensation when I put it on was not a pleasant feeling. I am not surprised though as Dove soap bugs my skin. I would therefore not recommend this Dove product to anyone who has a clean body system, it's not so pure as they say it is.
Great, if it wasn't sticky!
I was given this product to test out for free from ChickAdvisor. I have been on the hunt for a natural, aluminum free deodorant that will keep me scent free for the day for the past 2 years. They haven't always been natural, like this one, but for the past 10 years, nothing ever worked unless it was a "clinical deodorant". Many won't last, irritate my underarms, leave a residue or I become sticky.
So this Dove deodorant, it's 100% for me. There's no residue, it's thin, balmy texture. I love the great, light cucumber scent, which is typical for Dove products. It does keep me generally scent free for the day, not dry, which it doesn't claim to do. It would be perfect except this formula leaves my underarms sticky. I hate that feeling. My skin sticks to my skin, clothing sticks to it, any "fuzzies" get caught up in it. So because of that, I'm not a fan
Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant is perfectly alright
Chick Advisor sent me a stick of Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant in the Cucumber & Green Tea scent for review. I've used it for a few (very hot and humid) days, and have to say that it works just as well as other commercial deodorants, but since I am a particularly stinky person it doesn't work well enough for me, and I'll be sticking to my natural brand. However, this does not mean that the Dove wouldn't be perfectly effective for someone else. The scent is pretty strong, but pleasant (I can smell the cucumber, but can't make out the green tea), and the texture feels like a gel rather than a hard deodorant stick (even though it is more of a stick than a gel). So go try it! Quite possibly it will be exactly what you were looking for, and hey - anything that gets women to stop putting aluminum on our armpits is a major winner in my book.
Meh
So I got to try this deodorant free from ChickAdvisor and was interested to see if it was any good. I gave it an average rating for value because I had to give it something, but I actually don't know how much it costs because I couldn't find it for sale on any websites and didn't have time to look in stores before having to post my review.
First thoughts upon taking it out of the box were this: It's a large deodorant stick - taller than my usual brand, and the packaging is very minimal and visually pleasing (white, seemingly uncluttered, etc.). I say this in pretty much every review, but I am a HUGE scent person - if I don't like how a product smells, that pretty much kills it for me right off the bat. This deodorant has a very light and refreshing scent to it when you smell it (cucumber and green tea). I liked how in order to get the deodorant to come up for you to use you twist the entire base. My usual brand just has a little wheel build into the bottom that you turn, and I like the ease of turning the whole base, it was a nice feature. When I first applied it, I noticed it has a slightly wet feeling, but not sticky. When I wiped my finger across it I could feel that even for a stick deodorant it is much wetter than my typical brand. Now this isn't a negative per se, but it did take some getting used to the feeling (the wet feeling did go away about 5 minutes after applying). I did notice that throughout the day I would occasionally get a whiff of the scent - this could simply be because it was a new smell and I had become so used to my usual that I don't notice it anymore. I didn't notice that it got any white streaks on my shirts, although this has never really been something I have had issues with in the past, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the actual deodorant, or if it's just how I put my shirts on? For the most part it did keep me fairly dry, although there was some sweaty-ness after some mild physical activity. One thing I didn't love was that after sweating a bit, the once refreshing scent turned not so pleasant. It almost became a musty sort of smell that I really didn't enjoy. Again, this is not something I have ever noticed with my normal brand.
I suppose the biggest thing I was curious about was this whole 0% aluminum business. Honestly, this is not something I have ever taken any notice of and I actually had to google it to see why there is aluminum in deodorant and why you may not want it there (I also checked my usual brand and yup, it contains aluminum). Now fair warning, I did a very VERY basic research job and the gist of what I could find out is that aluminum is put in deodorant in part to block your sweat glands to keep you dry. This may make sense as to why I found this deodorant didn't keep me quite as dry as I'm used to. Then I researched WHY you may not want aluminum in your deodorant, and apparently (as with seemingly EVERTHING ELSE on this planet) there is debate about whether the aluminum gets absorbed into your underarms and can increase your risk of breast cancer. Now from the very brief research I did, it seems that there is no conclusive evidence that this actually happens and there is no warning from medical professionals about the use of aluminum in deodorant. If this is something that concerns you, or you are someone who is really, really careful with what you put in and on your body, then I encourage you to do far more research than I did to see whether or not this is something you want to be concerned with. Personally, the links were so far off and so iffy that I can't be bothered to spend any of my time or mental energy worrying about aluminum in my deodorant. So after coming to this conclusion, I took that out of the equation and decided that based on everything else I noted about the product, I didn't love it enough to switch from my usual brand. Don't get me wrong, it was fine. It did a decent job of what it was supposed to do, and I may have liked it more with a different smell, but it didn't wow me and I still like my usual brand better, so that is what I intend to keep on buying. But like I said, if you are someone who may be concerned with aluminum in your deodorant I encourage you to do some more research and to give this product a try. It is good enough, just not really for me.
Not as advertised
I was excited to get to try this deodorant as a part of the Product Review Club.
The cucumber and green tea scent was ok. Not the nicest smell of deodorants I've had so if I bought this again I'd try a different "flavour".
It goes on smooth and does feel like it's moisturizing my underarms. I really like that there is no aluminum. I'm always looking for products that are better for my body.
I decided to test the 24 hour protection claim. I have to say it fell short. I did a typical day (not work outs, and not overly hot outsidt) without reapplying for 24 hours. I did not feel fresh. I smelled a little funky after about 12 hours. Not too bad but not great. I wouldn't feel comfortable going into public without reapplying more deodorant.
So since it doesn't last as long as claimed nor smell as good as I hoped I would not recommend this deodorant again. Maybe a different scent and reapply more often than 24 hours. But I feel like it doesn't work as claimed for my body.
