Pros and Cons

Hi there fellow advisors. I tested the Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant in the Cucumber and Green Tea Scent. Well, there is a couple of nice things about it. It smells very pretty. A nice, light refreshing scent. Not so overpowering that your NEIGHBOURS can smell it! Its not going to leave you GASPING for breath. You can actually wear it with your favorite Perfume and feel confident that it won't clash. The other nice thing is when you take off the lid, the product inside is very shiny, unlike other solid Deodorants. It glides on beautifully and is silky smooth to the touch. It leaves NO sticky residue or little bits behind like some other stick deodorants do. It does make the skin feel soft. The presentation is very well put together. I am a stick girl myself, so I was very excited to try this product. I'm a little disappointed with how it turned out. 😔 I am all for 0% Aluminum but this product barely kept me odour free for 3 hours. Its definitely not very effective. I found myself reapplying several times a day. This won't get you through an 8 hour day, let alone a 24 HOUR day! I have been very loyal to one particular brand for many years. Regretfully, I won't be making the switch to Dove 0% Aluminum anytime soon. The concept is great but the product quality needs work. I would not recommend it to anyone. Sorry Dove, no hard feelings.

Great smell but sticky

I got to try this deodorant for free. I’ve been using the same brand and scent of deodorant since I was in high school and thought it was time for a change and was hoping this would be it, it smells amazing, goes on clear and has zero aluminum! But... after testing it out for the long weekend I found that by the middle of the day my armpits felt sticky and didn’t smell too great either. I don’t perspire a lot and my armpits felt gross after a few hours. Unfortunately I won’t be making a deodorant switch for this one.

Good deodorant, but didn't like the smell

I really like the deodorant overall, unfortunately I just didn’t love the scent. It has a really sweet, perfumed style cucumber scent that I found too strong. I have a pretty strong nose and would catch the smell whenever I moved my arms, which if you love the scent is a good thing!

In terms of effectiveness, the deodorant did a great job. It kept me dry with no sweat smell, even though it’s close to 30 degrees here right now. It easily lasted until night, which is when I tend to re-apply. The deodorant is soft cream type bar with a bit of a shine, so it glides on super easily. It’s not overly soft (like some), so it doesn’t clump up under my arms.

I also really like the idea of having a deodorant without aluminum, so I hope they bring out some more scents (or even a scent-free one) as I’d consider buying a different scent in the future!

Could be better

Super excited to use. No aluminum, good for my brain right! What's good for my brain isn't so good for my pits. I'm used to salt deodorant and was excited to try this. But my past practice has made me very scent sensitive. This scent is too strong for me. Again, past practice is really just salt water and out the door. This is sticky. My arm pits kept sticking to themselves all day. Definitely not enjoyable in a tank top. At the end of the day, I had bits of fluff and hair stuck in there.
My regular salt stick takes about 30 seconds per side. This is super quick, 3s max! But the time is saves me, the stickiness and the strong smell are not something I will continue with. I will keep on hand to use occasionally. Maybe it will dry out a bit over time and become less sticky. But unfortunately, I don't see me using this daily long term.

It’s alright

I love the fresh smell but it isn’t for me, I don’t like how my skin feels/texture after I put it on. I would definitely try another scent though as I usual love Dove.
